With over two decades of experience in a time of tremendous growth and global expansion in the Hedge Fund/Alternative Capital Business, Mr. Marxer has served as the Managing Director and Global Head of Citi's Hedge Fund Placements business in New York. Mr. Marxer was recruited after a 2 year search by Citi to find the key person to develop, build out, and lead a new hedge fund placements/advisory initiative from its infancy and was responsible for overall business development globally. Marxer’s former roles include: Chief Marketing Officer at Black River Asset Management, Founding Partner RedSky Partners, Director of Alliance Capitals Hedge Fund Investments Business and Director of Marketing at Ameriprise (formerly American Express Asset Management/IDS). |

A native of the U.S. state of California (he grew up in Eugene Oregon), Marxer’s immediate family consisted of his single mother and older sister. He joined the workforce at an early age in order to support his family, and began working nights, weekends, and vacations in order to save enough money to pursue his goal of attending college. |

Marxer graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 1985. He continued on to Oregon State University where he personally financed 100% of his college education. Marxer quickly plunged into leadership roles by becoming President of Theta Chi, and Vice President of ASOSU Student body. He assumed many other notable roles including: Chairman of Joint Activities, Student Foundation Board of Directors, Chairman, Business Student Rep Council, MUPC and IFC Regulations Board. Mr. Marxer was recognized on the University Honor Roll, and acknowledged for his many achievements with various awards, including: National Colley Award, Order of Omega, Francis B Brown Scholarship, and National Greek Merit Award. |

After graduating at age 22, Marxer was recruited directly from college and became the first participant in the Leadership and Career Development Investment Training Program at Investors Diversified Services (IDS) in Minneapolis, MN. Here his emphasis was to develop Strategic skills and leadership throughout all areas of the investment structure. Shortly into this program, Mr. Marxer identified and helped create a new Managed Portfolio Service labeled PMG - Portfolio Management Group in 1991. Mr. Marxer soon rose to become Vice President and Director of Marketing reporting directly to the president and Chief Investment Officer of IDS, establishing IDS Advisory PMG as the most profitable business in IDS Advisory's $18 billion corporate structure. |

In 1994, Marxer was recruited to Alliance Capital Management/Alliance Bernstein specifically to build out the Hedge Fund Business from its infancy. Reporting directly to the Vice Chairman, Marxer built and maintained the growth of one of the most successful hedge fund families in the business during his tenure. Assets grew from start up to over $3.2 billion in twelve distinct hedge fund styles. Following this success, Mr. Marxer left in 2002 to become one of three founding partners of RedSky Partners long short equity hedge fund complex, in which he consequently became responsible for building RedSky from the ground up to over $1.3 billion in assets. In 2005, Marxer helped structure the firm’s move to Black River Asset Management, where he served as Chief Marketing Officer. |
