Volkswagen Vento is a mid-size car developed by Volkswagen solely for the Indian market. It is essentially a Polo with a boot. However, the design has none of the quirkiness as seen in its similarly-designed competitors.

Technically, it comes with a 2552mm wheelbase, as opposed to the Polo's 2456mm. The extra wheelbase addresses one of the Polo's main weakness- rear legroom. VW offers a choice of two engine options; a 1.6 litre gasoline engine mated to a five-speed manual or automatic gearbox and a 1.6 litre diesel engine mated only to a five-speed manual gearbox.

In March 2011, Volkswagen recorded an impressive sales figure of 3973 units, dethroning the Honda City for the first time since its launch.
