Commie is a derogative and pejorative term for a Communist, used especially for Communists in the United States and other Western countries, with the implication that they were "traitors" taking the enemy side in the Cold War. Less often it was used for Communists in the Soviet Union and other countries where they were in power. Use of the term markedly decreased since the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
