Titles
Yes, Madam or Yes, Madam! is also known by several alternative titles including:
- Police Assassins (UK title for DVD release)
- Police Assassins 2 (former UK title for VHS release)
- In the Line of Duty 2 or Yes, Madam: In the Line of Duty 2 (some Asian releases)
- Super Cops (former US title for VHS release)
The film is nominally part of the loosely connected In the Line of Duty / Yes, Madam! film series. The alternative titles of this and other films in the series can be cause for confusion. The first film in the series, In the Line of Duty (aka Royal Warriors in the US) also had a release under the title Police Assassins and it also starred Michelle Yeoh.
In 1987, Cynthia Khan took on the lead role of female cop in the film In the Line of Duty 3, which was also known by the title Yes, Madam 2. The team-up of Cynthia Rothrock and "Michelle Khan" had proven so popular that the screen name of Cynthia Khan had been conceived as a combination of the two[2].
Also in 1987, Yeoh appeared in the film Magnificent Warriors which had the alternative title Yes, Madam 3. This would be the end of Yeoh's involvement with the series.
In 1989, In the Line of Duty 4: Witness was released, directed by Yuen Woo-ping and starring Cynthia Khan alongside Donnie Yen. UK and US distributors added further to the confusion by dropping the "4", releasing it as In the Line of Duty. It was also known by the title Yes, Madam 4.
The one constant in all of the subsequent films was Khan, and further title cross-overs occurred in this vein. In 1995, Khan appeared in a completely new and un-related film with the title Yes, Madam!. In 1996, she appeared in In the Line of Fire III, which was also known as Supercops, Police Assassins 2 and 'Yes, Madam 5 amongst other titles.
Finally, Michelle Yeoh also appeared in the Jackie Chan film Police Story 3 (aka Super Cop), and the semi-sequel / spinoff Once a Cop, which was also known as Super Cop, Super Cop 2 and various other titles.
