The Budapest Stock Exchange is a relatively new stock exchange headquartered in Budapest, capital of Hungary.

It replaced the unofficial "Budapest Stock Exchange Index" used during the phases of transition from a socialist to a market economy. The exchange presently contains seventeen stocks. To qualify for the index, a stock must comply with three out of five requirements. According to The Budapest Stock Index (BUX), these requirements include:

  • A certain minimum face value of a stock
  • A defined minimum price
  • A minimum number of transactions
  • A cumulated minimum turnover of 10% of the registered capital during the six months preceding the revision of the index

The Budapest Stock Exchange's historic high was 2252.32 index points and its low was 717.75 points.
