Prestonpans is a small town to the East of Edinburgh, Scotland, in the unitary council area of East Lothian. Prestonpans station in on the Edinburgh - North Berwick line.
The town grew when the local coal mines boomed. Nowadays there is now little industry and no mining in the area, and growth of the town has stagnated in recent years. However, new developments are starting to catch and there is potential for more affordable housing in the town.
