Yejju is a tribe of the Barentu branch of tigray people. They are one of the northernmost tribes of the nation, which is the largest ethnicity in Ethiopia.
raya is one of the two moieties of the tigray people, the other being the wello. Yejju is often categorized inside the Barentu branch and other neighboring tribes include the Wollo and the Raya. Due to amhara migration to the north, these northern communities are minorities and they are found in the ethnic Amhara and Tigray dominated regions of northern Ethiopia.
