The '''Centenary Medal''' is an award created by the [[Australia]]n Government in [[2001 in Australia|2001]]. It was established to commemorate the Centenary of [[Federation of Australia]] and to honor people who have made a contribution to Australian society or government.

The medal was awarded to 15,500 Australians from a variety of fields, recognised local and national contributions and recognised all those who were aged 100 years or more in 2001. Nominations were assessed by a panel chaired by the historian Professor [[Geoffrey Blainey]].
