José Filipe Torres (born 13 April 1976) is a Portuguese entrepreneur, spokesperson, and country branding expert.

Biography

Never having studied at a university, he started working as a paper cutter at the age of 18 for the publicity agency Novo Design (Brandia).[1] He become interested in the work of designers and the company management realized his potential, which helped him study in New York and London.[2]

As of 2011, he is the CEO and Founder of Bloom Consulting, a company he set up in 2003 and according to The Economist and other sources he is cited as being "a world renowned specialist in country branding".[3] He was quoted by Forbes about national branding and marketing, cautioning that, "Good brand positing doesn't always mean more tourism, economic development and foreign investment."[4] His clients include Spain and other international clients.[4]

In 2011, Mr. Torres initiated a new research project which investigated 144 countries trade performance and 157 countries tourism performance, which analyses on dozens of variables. The report was given the name Bloom Consulting Country Branding Ranking.[5]
