History

The gang began as a drug dealing collective on the Broadwater Farm estate in Tottenham.[2] Police crack-downs have targeted certain gang members for serious crimes and drug enforcement in the specific geographical locations of Tottenham Mandem sets has been practiced however the gang remained despite turnover of original members due to cyclical recruitment of younger members.

Rivalries

Between 1996 and 2004 over a dozen murders were attributed to the gang rivalry between the Tottenham Mandem and Hackney Boys[3]. More recently Tottenham Mandem gang members have been imprisoned for the murder of Gary Guthrie [4] and ongoing violence between the NPK set and rivals Shankstarz from neighbouring Edmonton[5] in 2009. Somerford Grove became an ally of the Tottenham boys when a gang member from Somerford Grove stabbed a Member of Wood Green. The gang member was later identified by police and jailed but jumped bail. A female who was later identified by the Metropolitan was part of the violence.
