==My recent edits to the Mariah Carey page== |
|||
I recently reorganized the lead but you changed the lead and said it made the discussion incoherent. I do not see how that is the case. I did not insert the line about the World Music Awards. That line has been there and honestly I do not think it should be there. But I think it makes far more sense to end the lead with Mariah returning to the forefront of music in 2005. In the first paragraph we end with a discussion of Mariah as being named the biggest selling artist of the 1990s by Billboard. Why do you think it is incoherent to begin the next paragraph discussing Mariah being named the world's best selling female artist. Doesn't that come next logically? By the way I did not insert that text about the World Music Awards. I am not interested in shoving anything in anyone's face. That bit about the world music awards has been there for some time. You left all of my edits in place except for the order of the paragraphs. I think it is incoherent to jump back to the world's best selling female artist in paragraph 3 of the lead. The middle paragraph belongs at the end of the lead because it sums up what has happened in her career the last 10 years and brings us to the present |

We Belong Together FAC
Geogre has pointed out that fans of Mariah Carey's music are writing the article for We Belong Together. I don't know whether or not I should feel insulted considering Carey interests me as much as a glass of water. Anyway, which parts do you think need to be improved? I agree that there are portions which could be rewritten, but other than that, I'm not so sure if there's any other faults. Then again, after reading the article several times through, I've begun skipping over the important facts; is this normal when constantly editing the same article? Well, whatever it may be, we need to fix up the parts that received objections here. Good luck to us! —Eternal Equinox | talk 02:56, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
- Are there any other objections that you believe require full attention? —Eternal Equinox | talk 22:06, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- I agree on both comments concerning Monicasdude and Geogre. No worries on rambling, I do it as well. —Eternal Equinox | talk 22:57, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- It's not your fault, and I appreciate all that you've done for the article. It's not easy writing a song article, especially when one doesn't even like "We Belong Together" (I find it so unrealistic — I only helped with it because its airplay records were notable). I don't even like Mariah Carey very much. The only song of hers that I like is the mid-1990s hit "Always Be My Baby". Anyway, I'll help with the prose of the article following this message if I feel like it. Yeah, so thank you. See you later! —Eternal Equinox | talk 14:02, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and guess what I just found out? Bishonen and Geogre were responsible for the departure of her. Because of this, I will have nothing to do with any FACs regarding them anymore. As a matter of fact, I am not interested in anything on Wikipedia right now; I may just take a break. —Eternal Equinox | talk 14:09, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Do you have an e-mail? If you do, could you please send me a message on either Hotmail or MSN.com verifying that you've received the following e-mail, please? Mine is: kumagai_band@hotmail.com. Please, Journalist. Please. Thanks. —Eternal Equinox | talk 18:53, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- No, I mean, see the e-mail address I placed in the message above? Please write me a message on either Hotmail.com or MSN.com. This is important. —Eternal Equinox | talk 19:04, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Did you see Geogre's comment on how poorly sourced the article is? I'm not sure where the future lies for We Belong Together if comments like these are being raised, especially considering such fantastics citations were retrieved. —Eternal Equinox | talk 22:22, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- I am going to be resubmitting the article to FAC on Friday night. I'd like it if it passed this time, but do you believe that a sound sample is really required? If we can retrieve one, then that is excellent, but if we don't, would that affect the status of the article? I'm also considering inserting the chart trajectories within the boundaries of an image. Do you have a program that can create graphs? Sadly, since this is a library computer, I am not allowed to access the catalogue bases. —Eternal Equinox | talk 23:08, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry if I rushed the article to FAC too quickly; actually, it is after Friday evening, but we did get a lot of work completed yesterday, which is good! Let's get it to FA status this time. —Eternal Equinox | talk 15:30, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- The image shouldn't be removed from the article. If it is, two images from the music video will remain. This is not particularly unique considering the article is 30 KB. The image presents Carey's happiness for winning the award and adds colour to the article. It should remain, regardless of what others are complaining about — it qualifies as fair use and is good the way it is. All right? I believe we can do this. —Eternal Equinox | talk 00:06, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- I just caught your message. Whatever the case, two images alone is pretty boring. I could do with a few more. It may not be notable or "valid" because of the lack of writing, but it's still colourful. —Eternal Equinox | talk 00:08, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, you may want to take a look at the FAC page — the user who requested the one reference has noted that it is incorrect. I'll look in to this, could you as well? —Eternal Equinox | talk 01:51, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- Could you delete Image:WBTRMA.jpg? A user recently noted that it is protected by copyright. Thanks! I've uploaded a new image in its place. —Eternal Equinox | talk 21:02, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps we should say that the image of the award ceremony adds "significantly"? —Eternal Equinox | talk 20:34, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

It has arrived!
A little girl is at her uncle's wedding. She asks her father why the bride wears white. Her father says, "Because white is the color of joy, and today is the most joyful day of her life." The little girl then asks, "Why is the groom is wearing black?" :-D KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 03:38, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Another Esperanzial note...
Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".
The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.
Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

Thanks
Thanks for taking the time to vote in my RfA, which passed with a final vote of 54/2/1 despite my obvious inadequacy for the job. I'll do my level best to use the mop and bucket — or, as I said in my RfA, plunger — responsibly. Of course, in the best tradition of politicans everywhere, I've already broken a campaign promise (I blocked a vandal last night despite having said "I don't anticipate using the blocking tool very often"). Nevertheless, I'll try not to let the unbridled power corrupt me. —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 14:56, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Don't worry, sweetheart - those wonderful wikihearts are so beautiful to me, that I don't care at all how my talk page looks :) Thank you! *smoochs* Phædriel ♥ tell me - 23:38, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Help w/ Madonna article
Hi Orane, I was wondering if you could help me with the whole Madonna IFPI issue. Once again the fans have turned the Madonna article into a mess, including making references to the obviously fake IFPI figures that have been circulating throughout the internet. I contacted the IFPI regarding the disputed list, and they wrote back telling me (not suprisingly) that it's a fake. I've put this in the discussion section and (not suprisingly) no one wants to believe it is true. Can I forward you the email so it can put this to rest? I appreciate your help! Bot or not?
Hi Orane, I was wondering if you use a bot to welcome newbies to Wikipedia or not, as you claim not to be. Yes or no? :D Terrancommander 14:34, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Madonna (entertainer) copyright violation question
Hi. Please check out the conversation at Talk:Madonna (entertainer)#Copyrights violation. I suspect that you will be able to clear up the confusion there. Jkelly 23:16, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Centered headers on user page
Hey Orane, I was just wondering how you are able to center your headers (such as "centered headers on user page") on your user page? I am having trouble in this field. —Eternal Equinox | talk 01:44, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip and the barn star! You're too kind, really. : ) —Eternal Equinox | talk 02:53, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Esperanza Elections
Hey Orane!!! I wish to say thanks for your vote at the Esperanza elections. (And everything you've done for me, while I'm here) :)
I've made my way into the Advisory Committee, so if you ever need any help or have any queries about the stuff we do, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again, KnowledgeOfSelf 09:42, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
Hey Orane. Just wanted to thank you for the barnstar ! Unexpected and very welcome. Thanks! Rossrs 09:26, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
We belong together and fair use images
Actually, I think that you have done very well in picking out the first 3 fair use images, and the rationales are spot on (though I personally like my own layout better, see Image:MKDE server.png as it addresses each of the fair use criteria specified in the U.S. Code). The last image... do you really need it? If you do, it's probably OK also, but I'd think carefully about that one. - Ta bu shi da yu 21:39, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
I've restored the Nielsen SoundScan sales figures, as RIAA certifications by themselves can be misleading. I do agree with you that the detail was a little too much though, so I have reduced it (e.g. 3.7 million rather than 3,690,408). Extraordinary Machine 17:39, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
See my last edit on the user talk page. I'm sure his/her response will display sarcastic and negative expressions of sorts. Anyway, when's the next time you'll be coming down to Toronto? —Eternal Equinox | talk 22:30, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- You'd best see this edit. I'm not fooling anyone, eh? Giano has no idea that they are fooling themself. (My interests have not changed? Certainly not since I was eight-years-old!) By the way, I rewrote a portion of the lead section at We Belong Together. —Eternal Equinox | talk 01:26, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- You're very encouraging! And yes, I am just going to ignore them — it certainly is pointless. I'm going to try to get ABMB up to featured status following WBT. Could you help a bit if you're not too busy? (Although I'm sure it will be difficult to find an example such as a sheet of music to consistently explain the structure.) Anyway, good luck to you as well! I'm online from the catalogue for the rest of the week at various times, I'll try to see if you've also accessed the WWW. See you for now! —Eternal Equinox | talk 19:39, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
My Rfa
Thanks for your support in my RfA. It passed, with a final tally of 62/0/1. I'm touched by all the kind comments it attracted, and hope I'll be of some use with the new tools. You know where I am if you need to shout at me. Flowerparty■ 17:44, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism
Hi, I tkae your point, to a limited degree about using Hello, I'm [[User:{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}]]. An edit that you recently made seemed to be a test and has been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on [[User talk:{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}|my talk page]]. Thanks! in sequential sequence. However, if someone has been blocked twice before for vandalism, and has had multiple warnings before it seems a rather stupid procedure. I would, however, take the point and from now on will use {{subst:testbv} more often. --Wisden17 20:05, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Another collaboration?
Are there any other articles you'd like to collaborate on following the eventual (that being tomorrow or next year!) featured article status of We Belong Together? —Eternal Equinox | talk 21:53, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, since Crazy in Love (Beyoncé song) has been extensively-written, why don't we go ahead and fix it up? After that, we can do Always Be My Baby, if you want to. —Eternal Equinox | talk 13:56, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Successful RfA
File:Saguaro2.jpg | Thanks for your support on my recent RfA, which I am pleased to say passed with a final tally of 80/1/1. If you ever need any help, or if I mess something up as an admin, please let me know. |
I BEG YOU
Can you please unblock the Mariah Carey article, for the sake of the hundreds of people who read it on a DAILY basis? I mean we (the readers of wikipedia) need all recent- and of course accurate- info on any topic. It has been three days now since you blocked that article. We don't care about all the fights editors are having. As a journalist, you should be well aware of that fact. It's not our fault, and this article is not that of the editors/journalists.
My RfA
Thank you for your support in my RfA.
Sadly, my RfA failed (on my birthday out of all days!), mainly due to it's closeness to the previous one. I hope that in any future RfAs I'll have your support!
Nonetheless, if I can do anything for you don't hesitate to ask me.
Have a nice St Patrick's Day!
