The Tarheel Forensic League is the speech and debate league for North Carolina. It was created in 1976 and is made up of 44 schools. The league participates in Lincoln-Douglas debate, Public Forum debate, Congressional debate, and many more, using mostly the same rules as the National Forensic League.
The 2010 State Tournament was recently held at Enka High School, Candler, North Carolina over the April 16-17 weekend. Hundreds of competitors entered at the Varsity and Jr. Varsity levels in several events. The Debate Events hosted include Public Forum Debate, Lincoln Douglas Debate, and Congressional Debate. Individual Interpretation events hosted include Extemporaneous Speaking, Humorous Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Impromptu Speaking, and Original Oratory.
