Straw Dogs is an upcoming 2011 American thriller film directed, produced, and written by Rod Lurie. It is a remake of Sam Peckinpah's 1971 film of the same name, in turn based on the Gordon Williams novel The Siege of Trencher's Farm.

Plot

Los Angeles screenwriter David Sumner (James Marsden) and his wife, Amy (Kate Bosworth), move back to Amy's hometown in the Deep South. Tension begins arising between the two of them as they face increasing conflict with the locals (Alexander Skarsgård, Walton Goggins), and everything comes to a violent turn.

Rod Lurie wrote and directed the remake of Straw Dogs which was scheduled for release on February 25, 2011. However the date was pushed to September 16, 2011. It stars James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, Alexander Skarsgård, James Woods, Dominic Purcell, Willa Holland,[2] Walton Goggins,[3] Rhys Coiro[4] and Laz Alonso.[5] The film began shooting on August 16, 2009 in Shreveport[2][6] and Vivian, Louisiana.[7]
