The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is an American reality series for the Bravo cable network.[1] The sixth installment in the network's The Real Housewives of... franchise, production for the Evolution Media series began in March 2010.[2] The show premiered on October 14, 2010.[3] The January 20, 2011 finale of the show became the highest rated episode with 4.2 million viewers in their duel prime time telecasts. They were surpassed by The Real Housewives of Atlanta who saw 4.4 million viewers for their season finale on January 30, 2011.
The first season of the show was released on DVD on June 28, 2011.
The series has since been renewed for a second season and will, tentatively, premiere on September 5, 2011. The entire Season 1 cast will return, with Brandi Glanville and Dana Wilkey appearing as "Friends of the Housewives."[4] The second season is in the process of re-editing after the death of Taylor Armstrong's husband, Russell, who committed suicide on Monday, August 15, 2011.[5][6]
Premise
The Season 1 cast includes Kelsey Grammer's wife (now ex-wife) Camille Donatacci, former child star and Paris Hilton's aunts Kim Richards and Kyle Richards who are sisters, heiress and businesswoman Adrienne Maloof-Nassif,[7] restaurant-owner Lisa Vanderpump-Todd, and eImplement, Inc. founder Taylor Armstrong.[8] The show follows the women as they lead their lives around Beverly Hills.

Taylor Armstrong

Taylor Armstrong was the wife of Russell Armstrong, an investor. She and Russell announced their separation in July of 2011. On August 15, 2011, Russell was found dead by suicide. He was later buried in LA. During their marriage, Russell and Taylor had one daughter, Kennedy Armstrong. Since she met her venture capitalist husband and starred on the reality series, she has become quite involved in philanthropy and owning businesses. Taylor is an advocate for victims of domestic violence through her work with the 1736 Family Crisis Center. She also serves as Chief Creative Director of BeautyTicket.com, President of Four Truffles, and President of eImplement, Inc. These companies are websites that sell women-oriented accessories.
Lisa Vanderpump

"In Beverly Hills, It's who you know, and I know everyone." (Season 1 - present)
Vanderpump was born and raised in London, England but lived in Monte Carlo and the South of France before moving to California. She has been married to Ken Todd for twenty-nine years. She married Ken when she was 21 meaning she is now 50 years old and the oldest of the Beverly Hills Housewives. The couple has two children, Pandora, 24 (biological) and Max, 18, whom she adopted. Among friends she is known as "Pinky".
Lisa and her husband own over 26 restaurants, including the celebrity hot spot Villa Blanca, which is known as the sexiest restaurant in Beverly Hills. Vanderpump has acted in numerous television series and movies such as A Touch of Class (film), The Wildcats of St Trinian's, Silk Stalkings, and Baywatch Nights.[9] Lisa appears on season 2 of Top Chef: Just Desserts episode three for her party along with husband Ken, Giggy and friends Kyle and Taylor.
Adrienne Maloof

Adrienne Maloof-Nassif is the third child and only daughter of the late entrepreneur George J. Maloof, Sr., and his wife Colleen who, along with Adrienne, co-owns the holdings of the Maloof Companies with her brothers George J. Maloof, Jr., Joe Maloof, Gavin Maloof and Phil Maloof. Born on September 4th, 1961 and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where her father owned a Coors beer distributorship, Adrienne was awarded a full scholarship to the University of New Mexico, where she earned a degree in political science and was a member of Pi Beta Phi.[10]
She is married to Dr. Paul Nassif, a rhinoplasty specialist and cosmetic surgeon who appeared on E!'s Dr. 90210. The couple and their three sons, aged 7 and 4 (twins), reside in Beverly Hills, California.[10]
Kim Richards

Richards was born on September 19, 1964 in New York, New York, the daughter of Kenneth Edwin Richards (1917–1998) and Sharon Kathleen (née Dugan; 1933–2002). Her parents separated in 1972 and Kathleen later remarried. Richards' sisters are the actresses Kathy Hilton (born 1959) and Kyle Richards (born 1969). Socialites Nicky and Paris Hilton are her nieces, daughters of her sister, Kathy.[11]
Her career began a child in the early 1970s.[12] From 1970–1971, Richards starred as Prudence Everett in the television series Nanny and the Professor, with costars Richard Long, Juliet Mills, Trent Lehman and David Doremus. She also starred in several Disney films, including Escape to Witch Mountain, No Deposit, No Return and Return from Witch Mountain. She starred in an episode of Little House on the Prairie as Olga Nordstorm, Laura Ingalls' friend who had one leg shorter than the other.
In 1977, Kim and her sister Kyle both appeared as the daughters of James Brolin in The Car.
Kyle Richards

Richards was born in Hollywood, California (January 11, 1969), the daughter of Kenneth Edwin Richards (1917–1998)[13] and Sharon Kathleen (née Dugan; 1933–2002). Her recent acting roles include playing the part of Nurse Dori on the hit television series, ER. She has also appeared in episodes of her niece Paris Hilton's reality series The Simple Life and My New BFF.
Camille Donatacci Grammer

Camille Donatacci Grammer (born September 2, 1968) is the former wife of Kelsey Grammer. They have two children together, Mason and Jude, both born via a surrogate mother.[17][18]

Brandi Glanville is a former model, once married to actor Eddie Cibrian. She has two sons with Cibrian, Mason and Jake. The couple separated in July 2009 after months of speculation that Cibrian was having an affair with his married Northern Lights co-star LeAnn Rimes. Glanville will be introduced as a "friend of the housewives" in the upcoming second season of the show.
Dana Wilkey

Dana Wilkey is a successful event planner, responsible for Taylor Armstrong's $60,000 birthday party for her then four-year-old daughter, Kennedy. Originally from the east coast, Wilkey left home for California at age fifteen and graduated from the University of Southern California with honors. She now owns her own widely-successful party planning business, is a supporter of many organizations, including 1736 and The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Organization, and is the proud mother of a baby boy. She will be introduced this as a "friend of the housewives" in the upcoming second season of the show.

Ratings
The October 14 season premiere scored over 1.5 million viewers.[19] The November 4 episode delivered 1.9 million viewers.[20] The December 16 episode reached nearly 2.2 million viewers.[21] The January 6 episode received its highest amount of viewers yet, with 3.5 million for the 9PM and 10PM airings combined. The series ratings have continued to grow, with attracting 3.7 million viewers between the 9PM and 10PM airings for the January 13 episode, ranking No. 1 in the 9PM Timeslot Among Adults 18-49 Versus All Cable Competition.[22] The January 20 finale became the highest-rated Season 1 episode with 4.2 million when combined with multiple evening reruns. Atlanta remains the The Real Housewives of... franchise's highest one time watched episode with 4.4 million viewers with its season 3 finale.[23]
