On the 25th of September 2011, a Buddha Air Beechcraft 1900D crashed while attempting to land in dense fog at Kathmandu's Tribhuwan International Airport. [3] According to a spokesperson, the plane was returning from a mountain flight when it crashed at Kotdada Hill, whilst attempting to land at Tribhuwan International Airport[3]
All 19 persons onboard the flight including eight Indians, five Europeans, a US national and two Nepalis along with three Nepali crew members are reported dead in the accident.
Nirajan Karmacharya, 36 of Jawalakhel, one of the Nepali passengers who was rescued alive and subsequently been rushed to B&B Hospital at Gwarko for treatment has succumbed to his injuries while on the way to the hospital.
The rescue team has recovered eighteen bodies from the accident site.
The 9N-AEK 1900D aircraft went missing from 7:30 in the morning. While crash took place at around 7:40 am.
