Alan van der Merwe is a South African race car driver, born January 31, 1980 in Johannesburg.
He won the 2001 Formula Ford Festival, 2003 British Formula Three Championship and ran for Super Nova Racing Ltd. in Formula 3000 in 2004. His money ran out mid-season and he became contracted as a part-time tester for BAR-Honda. For 2005 and 2006, he is the team's driver in their attempt to set an official land speed record with a Formula 1 car on the famous salt flats in Bonneville, and 2006 sees an increased testing role if perhaps Anthony Davidson goes to Honda's other team, Super Aguri, for a race seat.
