Dear Sir, it is the first time im hearing of this contention that you have mentioned and i have no knwledge about such a origing that you have mentioned. I believe hindko is a language quite similar to punjabi and is thus considered a dialect of Punjabi. People coming from different areas did adopt this local language. I believe it originates from the word Hind and ko, probably if you go into the meaning of these two words, Hind is this region and 'koh' probably referes to the mountains. Hindko there fore a language of northern india, which since 1947 Pakistan. but then again, im no expert at linguistics. I hope it helps. cheers [[User:Wikitanoli|Wikitanoli]] ([[User talk:Wikitanoli#top|talk]]) 10:38, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

RE: Tanoli page

The reason i nominated the page for deletion is clearly stated on the AfD page. Follow the link on the template to find it. Thank you TheProf | Talk 20:34, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to say there is no way to stop the vandalism. Wikipedia is a free Encyclopedia and everyone is welcome to contribute. All we can do is revert the vandalism and warn the vandal. Persistant vandals will be blocked. User:Afghantanoli has already been blocked for his vandalism of that page. If it survives the deletion vote (which it looks like it will), i will keep the page in my watch list and revert any vandalism i find. Thank you TheProf - T / C 13:32, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing, try and remember to sign your comments on talk pages by adding ~~~~ to the end of your statement. Thank you and have a nice day! TheProf - T / C 14:15, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The page is starting to look more like a wikipedia article now. Thank you for your contributions. You are allowed to vote in the deletion disscusion aswell! Please feel free to do this at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Tanoli. Cheers! TheProf - T / C 15:33, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd just like to say, Wikitanoli, i think you're doing a wonderful job in trying to improve this article. Keep up the good work :-) TheProf - T / C 14:52, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll have to answer tomorrow or past tomorrow. Too tired today --Enric Naval (talk) 02:20, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I took out those two tags and justified the removal, but I added the Nofootnotes tag so people will use "ref" tags for better verifiability. I have to say that a very well sourced article usually discourages vandals from introducing unsourced statements. I think that you are doing a good job too at the article :) --Enric Naval (talk) 15:31, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tanoli

Hi there,

I am the original writer for the Tanoli page before a very rude user almost destroyed my work. I tried my best to reason, but to no avail with the user Pakhtun Tanoli (alias Mumtaz Ahmed). I have just checked the page after an extensive period from it, and noticed that you have done very good work surrounding the article. With your permission and assistance, would you like me to help with clearing up the article format? Not info wise, but in terms of formatting the references, cleaning up the tone and language of the article to wikipedia standards.

Please let me know if you would like help in this area, as I do feel some form of duty to this article as I originally did a lot of research on the Tanoli tribe and provided the citations through the article at the time which abusive users have now removed over time....--~Raja~ (talk) 11:40, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your kind words Tanoli saheb, I will do my best for this article again Inshallah. Pictures can be uploaded by a simple process. Let me know what you would like to upload, i.e. on your talkpage or the article itself? I know what you mean about the vandals, unfortunately some of our people have very little reasonability or common sense.....what can I say....
Inshallah, the article will now be on the road to improvement, thanks to your commitment.--~Raja~ (talk) 13:15, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Salamz again Tanoli Saheb, I have cleaned up the article somewhat and have left the addition of info to other editors for now. Take a look when you have time--~Raja~ (talk) 10:47, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

thanks

Thanks for cleaning up the Tanoli page :) It was very difficult to know why was people being mentioned in some places in the text. --Enric Naval (talk) 04:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome Enric : ) You are right about the fact that other people resembling the names of Chiefs of Amb were present at the time and that can be confusing for a person whoes not familiar with local names and places of that region; but on close inspection of any source of info, you can figure out whether its about the tanoli chiefs or someone else. Just look for key words, such as; Amb, Darband, Tanawal, Tanoli, Nawab, Hazara. tc Wikitanoli (talk) 16:04, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 06:30, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikitanoli:

I really apprecite your effort in updating the AMB history . I suggest that the pictures of the then Nawabs be uploaded in oredr to give more grace to the page. Being the part of the AMB family can be arranged.Looking forward to your reply. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.2.159.236 (talk) 06:53, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Yes adding pictures of the Nawabs of Amb and other related pics would make the page more presentable. Your help would be appreciated. tcWikitanoli (talk) 11:29, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Brother the tanoli page has been semi protected, which means you cannot make edits. This step was taken by wikipedia admins because the page was being vandalised at daily basis and information was being added which was not in tone with the article, if you have any relevant information backed by reference, do let me know, I can edit the page.Wikitanoli (talk) 17:04, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

notability for this tanoli

See [1], I have already removed this guy from the article several times. Can you check who this person is? If he turns out to be some notable person, then please try to find some source so he can be added to the article, and we can close this. --Enric Naval (talk) 21:14, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He is not a notable person at all, probably some guy entering his own name there and you have very rightly removed him from the list. Thank you! Wikitanoli (talk) 21:19, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all :) --Enric Naval (talk) 22:01, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Haha yeah I mean that, i would say those people must be notable in their own street or locality, but I dont think that deserves a mention here. Not encyclopaedic or helpfull at all : ) Wikitanoli (talk) 17:32, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tanoli pakhtun tribe (asaad afridi )

http://yawiki.org/proc/Tanoli —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.33.123.224 (talk) 14:03, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Asad Afridi, this link that you have posted above has lots of information which connects Tanoli tribe to the Pashtuns. I agree with the content in this article to some extent but I believe those people who think that Pashtuns are the ones who only speak in Pashtu, will not agree with this as the native language of Tanawal is Hindko not Pashtu. Tanolis are no doubt one of the bravest tribes of the NWFP and one of the few tribes who had their own independant Kingdom, with the Nawab (also a Tanoli) as their ruler and a whole system that is required for a State. They were never subdued by the Durranis, Sikhs or the British; so our history is a testament to our strong stand in the region and we are proud of our tribe. The Article rightfully menions the Parawalli of the Tanolis; which is same as Pakhtunwalli and our customs and traditions are all those of Tribal Pashtuns. So although even if I agree with you on this, there would still be Pakhtuns argueing that Tanolis are not from amongst the Pashtuns on linguistic basis. This is a reason why Pashtuns are divided. However, the Barlas Mughal origin theory is also a very plausible theory which is backed by very old documentation. Another thing I agree with in this article is the Janjua origin theory is totally baseless and absurd.Wikitanoli (talk) 23:06, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can you look at the source for the subtribes and point out the exact page? I left a comment on the talk page with a link to volume 3. --Enric Naval (talk) 08:51, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was actually another book containing the tanoli sub tribes' names; I have brought about the changes, you can check from the Tanoli page. Cheers! Wikitanoli (talk) 14:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Someone has added more subtribes, can you check them out and see if you can find a source or something? --Enric Naval (talk) 17:38, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:1917 Darband, SIR GEORGE ROOSE KEPPEL, SAHIBAZADA SIR ABDUL QAYUM.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:57, 7 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 22:57, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oops!

Sorry about that, didn't realize the syntax I corrected was part of the image description. I've reverted my corrections and the images should be back now. That'll teach me to correct text used in images. From now on, I'll leave image corrections to editors who know how to do that and stick to text only. Thank you for uploading File:Nawab of Amb's arms factory at Amb 1921.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 02:01, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This picture is from my personal family album and has no copy rights attached and it was taken in the year 1921; I will mention this in image description. Thank you. Wikitanoli (talk) 17:04, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Settlement of Tarbela Dam affectees requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Zachlipton (talk) 22:52, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For a work in progress, you can create a draft article in your sandbox such as User:Wikitanoli/Settlement of Tarbela Dam affectees DRAFT and then ask for it to be moved to live article space when you have removed all of the copyright violations and provided full third party sourcing etc. Active Banana (bananaphone 23:14, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I will do that when i created this pade because its about the displaced people of the biggest earth filled dam in the world and has encyclopedic relevence. Tarbela Dam

Hello, I had to revert your addition to Tarbela Dam because it was copied and pasted from here and a copyright violation. Please refrain from using copy and paste for additions even if you make slight alterations of the text. If the website has proper terms, you can but it is a generally discouraged practice. If you have any questions, let me know.--NortyNort (Holla) 03:15, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the part from the article in my own words now. I had copy pasted from this website, but the point i am making here, is that many families have still not been compensated by the Pakistan government and this is an important part that has to be mentioned here.Wikitanoli (talk) 17:05, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I added a reference to what you put but it is from 1999, I will look for something more recent. If you have good information for an article that is great but be careful of advocating.--NortyNort (Holla) 21:49, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, the current situation is still the same as mentioned in that article, you can verify it.cheers Wikitanoli (talk) 16:36, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
