Westfield Vancouver, formerly known as Vancouver Mall, is a shopping mall owned by Westfield Group, and is located in Vancouver, Washington. It is anchored by JCPenney, Macy's, Nordstrom and Sears.
History
Opened in September 1977 by May Centers, Inc. with Meier & Frank, Nordstrom and Sears. During phase two of mall expansion, a JCPenney was added; Lipmans was also proposed but never built. Eventually, Mervyns would open where the Lipmans had been planned.
The mall was acquired in 1994 by Westfield America, Inc., a precursor of Westfield Group. In 1998 it was renamed "Westfield Shoppingtown Vancouver". The "Shoppingtown"" name was dropped in June 2005. The Meier & Frank store was renamed Macy's in September 2006 and expanded their location in 2006 as well.
The 82,225 ft² Mervyn's closed in January 2007. Currently, renovations are under way to transform this space into a 23-screen Cinetopia movie theater, expected to open in November 2011.[1] But since they are remodeling the whole mall, they pushed the Cinetopia grand opening date to February 2012.
