''PETA criticism legitimate?''
==PETA criticism legitimate?==

Should the PETA criticism of Jessica even be listed? Most people don't see eating meat as "controversial," and PETA is a fringe organization.[[Special:Contributions/67.188.208.139|67.188.208.139]] ([[User talk:67.188.208.139|talk]]) 18:45, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

I think the Music career and the acting career should be together in segments of years, like the Hilary Duff article, this is because much of what is going on in her career ties in for example when in this skin was released it had the Newlyweds running at the same time which made it successful —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.96.113 (talk) 17:45, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Adam Green song

I was a bit surprised not reading any mention of the 2003 Adam Green song "Jessica" in which Jessica Simpson is repeatedly mentioned. It may not be that well known, however. In that case I would agree it is probably irrelevant. It is pretty well known here in Germany, though, and apart from that I have never heard anything about Jessica Simpson . What do others think? Is the song worth a mention? Clickclickdecker (talk) 20:51, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are some good pictures on Flickr. Could someone crop the pictures and post them? Thank You Novice7 (Talk) 11:41, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lets get this article to Featured status

What can we do to improve this article and get it the "star" that denotes Feature status? I feel like the opening could be revised to be shorter, yet more informative about Jessica as a person. Currently, it focuses a lot on her music. The headings could be used to structure the article and discuss in greater detail the seperate areas of Jessica's career and life. The opening should touch on those items only briefly. What do you think? Rl girl67 (talk) 02:38, 9 November 2010 (UTC) Rl girl67[reply]

My suggestion for the opening would be something like this:

Jessica Ann Simpson (born July 10, 1980) is an American singer, actress, television personality, and fashion designer whose rise to fame began in 1999. Since that time, Simpson has achieved many recording milestones, starred in several television shows, movies, and commercials, launched a line of hair and beauty products, and designed fragrances, shoes, and handbags for women. She has devoted time to philanthropic efforts including Operation Smile and a USO-hosted tour for troops stationed overseas.

If a change like this were made, I would then suggest that the specific details currently mentioned in the opening be moved to the approriate headings further down. Rl girl67 (talk) 03:05, 9 November 2010 (UTC) Rl girl67[reply]

Good. We should promote this to FA. I have worked on Jess's discography and its a FA now. Now, we have to clear this too. Don't forget the albums and singles. Novice7 Talk 06:15, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I second that Rl girl67

I agree with you about the lead, that is only the beginning though. I would like to see her top singles added to the page and a section about her famous quotes. There is a website with all of her famous quotes that some of us ditzy girls can relate to! HazMadHazMad (talk) 03:48, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, you can add details about singles, but no quotes. Thank you. Novice7 | Talk 14:33, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Famous Quotes

Previously unknown to some, Simpson made a name for herself during her Newlyweds days by showing her quirky side. Her now famous quotes helped make her a household name. People became familiar with Simpson's ditzy, yet relateable, personality. Her most famous quote is, “Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it says 'Chicken of the Sea". Even those who didn't watch the show became familiar with that quote through it's repeated playback on entertainment newscasts and YouTube. Another famous quote stemming from Newlyweds was “I have to go... drop some kids in the pool.” Fans learned quickly that Simpson was like all of them. Typo

I can't edit the article but there is a typo in the first paragraph.

"launched a line or hair" should read "launched a line of hair"— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.63.251.14 (talk)

This has been corrected. Thanks! Hagerman(talk) 23:50, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request

As I'm being discriminated against by the Wikipedia (being an unregistered user) and consequently can not edit the page, I'd like to ask for linking the Chicken_of_the_Sea#Popular_references to the mention in the Criticism and controversy section. Thanks. 87.249.145.69 (talk) 21:12, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article is semi-protected due to persistent vandalism by bored schoolkids. It's a basic protective mechanism that's common for pages about living people, where vandalism could do real harm. Anyway, I've implemented your suggested edit as it helpfully clarifies an otherwise cryptic comment.  Done. Thanks, Adrian J. Hunter(talkcontribs) 01:39, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
