This template must be substituted. Shrek 4 is the planned third sequel to Shrek and sequel to Shrek the Third (Shrek 3). The movie is actually a prequel to Shrek. This movie will be made by DreamWorks Animation and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. Currently, there is no announcement on when this movie will be released or when production or filming will start.

Plot

Young Harold the frog meets and falls in love with Princess Lilian. He goes to the Fairy Godmother for help in obtaining her love in return, and she turns him into a man, but only if he promises his first born daughter as the bride of her baby son, Prince Charming.

Harold and Lilian are married and then become king and queen of Far Far Away.

A young couple of Scottish ogre move to Duloc. There they have a son named Shrek.

Princess Fiona is born to Harold and Lilian. Unfortunatley, due to her father's frog genes, she is an ogress. Only Harold, Lilian, and the king and queen of Duloc know of this.

Young Fiona is invited to a sleep over at Sleeping Beauty's castle, but her father doesn't allow her to go, due to her being an ogress. He finally consults the Fairy Godmother, who says that they should lock her away in a Dragon-guarded castle that only her son, Prince Charming could get into. They do as she says.

Harold and Lilian tell the people that Fiona was so beautiful that she was stolen.

The child, Shrek, wishes to become a knight, but his parents disagree.

While Shrek still desires to be a knight, he encounters a caravan of a witch. The witch has as a pet, a donkey which she has made to talk. Shrek manages to free the poor creature from his abusive owner, and the two part ways afterwards. The witch tells Shrek that when he weds, his bride will be as ugly as he is, though he disbelives her.

The king and queen of Duloc die, leaving their peaceful kindom in the hands of tyrannical Lord Farquaad.

Princess Fiona escapes from the tower, seeking the aid of a witch, named Dama Fortuna. Fortuna offers her a Beauty potion, and a Happily-ever-after potion. Fiona chooses the Beauty, drinks it, and is told that she will only be beautiful during the day. Then, the dragon finds her and takes her back to the tower.

Shrek moves into his swamp after his parents kick him out because he is even uglier than they are.
