United Nations Security Council Resolution 2014, unanimously adopted on October 21, 2011. The Council called for an end to violence in Yemen amidst an Arab Spring-linked civil uprising and a protracted Islamist insurgency in the south. The resolution also called for President Ali Abdullah Saleh to accept a peace plan brokered by the Gulf Cooperation Council for an orderly transfer of power and a permanent ceasefire between Saleh's supporters and the protest movement.
