Family Background
Andrew was born into a military family, his father, Group Captain Peter Cumming was a dentist with the RAF. During his childhood he lived in Hong Kong, Calne, Unst, Bahrain, Ixworth and Akrotiri.
Education
He graduated in Mathematics from University of Sussex in 1984 and completed an PGCE immediately after completing his teaching practice at Portslade Community College.
