New schedule

Instead of the 32+40+10 distribution (division+conference+interconference) from 2005-06 there will be 24+40+18 starting this season.

• NHL schedule changes accent variety
• Board of Governors approves new schedule matrix

Standings

Can someone give me the link to edit the standings? And can we consider not making it impossible to find the pages to edit them?CalBears99 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 22:54, 4 November 2008 (UTC).

When I first came across this I had trouble too. When you try to edit the standings on THIS page, you will get this on your screen:

{ {2008–09 NHL Northeast Division standings}}

{ {2008–09 NHL Southeast Division standings}}

The double brackets {{ }} means that the section you are trying to edit is governed by a template (three templates in the example above) named with whatever is inside the brakets. So, if you want to edit the standings, just type "Template:2008–09 NHL Atlantic Division standings" in the search box of wikipedia. Note that in the example I used there are 3 separate templates, so you would need to do 3 searches.Juve2000 (talk) 16:46, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Note that the standings are not just used here, but are used in the individual team pages, so its much more efficient to edit the standings template when a change has to be made than it is to have every page having its own stand-alone standings and having to make 30 edits or more.Juve2000 (talk) 16:51, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Europe games

In the European Openers section, "As of February 23rd 2009, all four teams who went over to start the season in Europe have fired their coaches, including the New York Rangers."

The "First games" section

Users are obviously using the section to put their favourite players in and when I try to set an inclusion criteria (first round pick OR award nominee OR all-star), they basically say "other crap exists." How can we possibly say who is a player of note based on one season alone? At least with my criteria, the included players have a place in the NHL history books. I tried to draw a line, but a user still said, "where's the line between unnotable and notable" and proceeded to add noms according to what he felt was notable. Rookies can't win 250 games or score 400 goals or have their number retired. The only way to get on it would be the first overall pick.. RandySavageFTW (talk) 21:06, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

It says major award winners, not nominees. If we're going to follow that, you might as well remove all the guys from the other seasons like Wellwood. RandySavageFTW (talk) 01:27, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

I never said that Steen and Wellwood shouldn't be removed, my comments are about this page. If you want to remove them, go for it. I'm not sure I agree with award winners only, as being nominated for a trophy is a big accomplishment. -- Scorpion⁰⁴²² 01:31, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Sergei Fedorov

Maybe we need to put an asterisk next to players who are active in another league, or make the list into a table, with a column for retired or active in another league. Manny Fernandez is not playing anywhere, yet I doubt anyone thinks he's finished. Alaney2k (talk) 19:18, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
