The Black Star Co-op is brewpub located in Austin, TX. It is the world's first cooperatively owned and cooperatively run brewpub.
History
The first meeting was conducted on January 14th, 2006. Work has progressed rapidly, and the first bylaws were ratified on April 2, 2006. The grand opening is slated for the end of summer or start of fall.
Governance
The Black Star co-op is filed as a cooperative association in the State of Texas. It's bylaws based on the principle of participatory self-management, and feature a unique compromise between traditional models of workers' and consumers' co-ops.
