as long as we're fine-tuning the wikiproject, get it to childlit

Why do we need the "The book was followed by the 1971 That Was Then, This Is Now" at the bottom? It makes it look like a sequel, which it isn't. Should this be deleted?

Dystopian Novel?

I do not agree with The Outsiders being listed as a dystopian novel. It is not set in the future and is not science fiction related at all. I think we should remove it from the list of dystopian novels. - Milk 22:33, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I too think we should remove the Dystopian Novel heading. The only characteristic the book could share with a dystopian nnovel is that it takes place in a rough nieborhood, but if you actually read the book the nieborhood actually isn't that bad as Ponyboy explicitly states that most of the gang members don't lock thier doors. In some ways, it is a dystopian one in that Dallas dies and is pretty well beyond redemption even before that. As well, just because by Ponyboy's standards the neighborhood isn't "that rough" doesn't mean someone else wouldn't perceive it that way. --24.80.119.229 03:53, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Outsiders

THE OUTSIDERS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER

I LOVE THIS BOOK! i feel sry for Johnny.. :(GreenDayGirl

A few issues here...it was the gun that they had been given that started the fire, not a cigarette, and there's a lot of issues with how the article is written. It could use some attention.

Although I am not the one who wrote this article, I agree with the writer in that the cigarrettes started the fire. No where in the book or movie or really anywhere does it even hint that the gun had anything to do with it.

yes, the gun just went off BECAUSE of the fire happening. (because of the gunpowder reacting, most likely.)

You guys are a bunch of freaky bastards. The only thing wrong with this fucking article is that it doesn't have enough movie pics. Oh, and Dallas's death doesn't make it a fucking sci-fi novel, you idiot. It would be a sci-fi novel is the Socs flew spaceships and Dally got iced by a ninjabot. But it's not, is it? [John Everest]

2 Bits wasn't attacked and killed by ninjabots? My friend told my Outsiders was like Blade Runner with ninjabots. The lies, the lies, why all the lies... Bradley Elenbaas

Um, out of curiosity, isn't this a book, not a film? As such, I believe it should go under the WikiProject Novels instead of WikiProject Films... Amalas 21:51, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
