Sherlock Holmes («Шерлок Холмс») is a Russian Television Series[1] based on the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, which premiered is not expected until late 2012. The series consists of eight stories in two series. Some series presents stories that never filmed in the popular media.
Production
The idea of a new Russian TV series about Sherlock Holmes was first announced in 2009, shortly before the release of Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes". But the choice of director and actor has been much delayed, and therefore premiere was delayed for 3 years.
The Official production of the series was begun only in 2011.
Andrey Kavun, who is known for his work on the film "Kandahar" ,was appointed as the director[2] [3]. Igor Petrenko was chosen for the Sherlock's role, and the role of Dr. Watson - Andrey Panin. On the role of Inspector Lestrade was elected Mikhail Boyarsky.
Under the influence of Guy Ritchie's film role of the heroine Irene Adler also was expanded during the show her love affair with Holmes is one of the main storylines. In her role was taken by actress Lyanka Gryu. Kavun also said it plans to use only the motives of original stories, and will create a story almost from scratch. The series will be provided, that the description of crimes on the part of Watson's has a lot of embellishments, and later he will try to adjust reality to his fiction. For example, the famous tube Holmes will be replaced by cigarettes, and in one of a series, Watson will try to make Holmes lit his pipe, that fiction has become true[4].
Unlike the most adaptions of Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock in the Russian Version is younger than Dr. Watson in 15 years[5].
