The terms African civilizations, also classical African civilizations, or African empires are used in Afrocentrism and Pan-Africanism to group the various pre-colonial African kingdoms.
The civilizations so listed usually include Ancient Egypt[1], Axum,[2] Meroe,[2] Numidia and Nubia[2], but may also be extended to the prehistoric Land of Punt, and others, the Empire of Ashanti and the Empire of Ghana.
Study on the subject has emphasized Kemet (Ancient Egypt).[2][2]
