Sayed Hamid Noori was one of the leading journalists in Afghanistan.
He was anchor for the afghan state television,Vice-President of Afghanistan's Independent Journalists Association(AIJA),[1] newspaper editor and teacher of young journalists.
The Murder
On Sunday,the 5th September 2010, Sayed Hamid Noori was stabbed to death in front of his house in Kabul.[2]His ten year old son saw how his father got beheaded,according to Khalilullah Dastyar,deputy Kabul police chief. On the night of his murder,Sayed Hamid Noori received a series of phone calls that prompted him to leave his apartment. Sayed Hamid Noori was famous in Afghanistan for his critical reporting about warlords and potentates,but as well about the afghan government. For that reason he had a lot of powerful enemies in Afghanistan.
The afghan President Hamid Karzai has told the interior minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi to investigate.
Foreign minister of France Bernard Kouchner expressed his regret over the death of Sayed Hamid Noori.
The murderer were not found until today.
Life
Sayed Hamid Noori was born and grown up in Kabul.
He visited the University of Kabul. As one of the best students and with the highest degree in journalism he finished the university. According to his family he always liked very much literature and the afghan langluages Dari and Pashto,but as well different other langluages. Besides this he was great poet.Sayed Hamid Noori published some of his poetry. He had the opportunity to leave Afghanistan.In 2009 "reporters without borders" told him that he could get easily a visa for Europe,but he didn't want to leave Afghanistan.
His vision was a democratic Afghanistan with the freedom of speech and the freedom of express.
