Emina Jahović (Serbian Cyrillic: Емина Јаховић, born January 15, 1982), is a Serbian pop singer. She is married to singer Mustafa Sandal from Turkey, where she is known as Emina Sandal.

Biography

Emina grew up in a Muslim family in Novi Pazar. She has completed basic school of music, performed in the choir of her hometown of Novi Pazar, and took part in the local folklore section. While in high school, she took part in several theatre performances, including Antigone. Since some of the roles included singing, she realized that singing was her real passion.

Career

In 2000, she won the youth festival "Zlatna staza" (Golden Path) in Montenegro, with the song "Samo ti, moja muziko." In 2002, Emina participates in the Bosnian Eurovision pre-selection BH Eurosong with the song "U, la-la."

In 2003. She participated in the "Sunčane Skale" festival in Herceg Novi, Montenegro and won the third place with her song "Uzalud se budim". That made her one of the most popular artists in the former Yugoslavia republics. She took part at the festival again in 2004 with the song "Voljela te il' ne voljela".

In 2005 she released her second album called "Radije ranije" for one of the largest Serbian record labels, "City Records". It included the songs "Radije ranije", "Tvoja greška" and the mega-hit "Da l' ona zna". She took part in Budvanski Festival 2005,with the song Nije više tvoja stvar,and won the award for the best song writer.

In 2008 she released her maxi single "Exhale" which was completely produced and recorded in New York City under the production wing of Bojan Dugić, who worked with one of the biggest names in music today.

In the summer of 2008, Emina released a new album in English called Exhale. In December 2008 she released the single single "Još ti se nadam", a duet with Serbian teenage singer Saša Kovačević. The video clip was shot at locations in Serbia, and has been one of the most expensive videos in Serbian music video production.

Along with Milan Stanković who won the competition, and Oliver Katić, she was to sing the Serbian entry for Eurovision 2010.

Life

Emina is 5'10" (178 cm) tall. Emina is a student of management at the "Braća Karić" University in Belgrade and is an official face of the Macedonian fashion label "Kara".[1]

Emina is the sister of Mirsad Türkcan, a basketball player based in Turkey.

Emina was cover model of many Serbian and Turkish magazines like Cosmopolitan Serbia,[2] Elele (in Turkish), Lepota & Zdravlje (in Serbian) and others.

Currently she lives on relation Belgrade - Istanbul. Emina is married to famous Turkish singer Mustafa Sandal and they have two sons.
