Heartbeats Accelerating is a 1990 album by the late Kate and Anna McGarrigle. It was their first album in seven years, after Love Over and Over in 1983, and received favourable reviews from many music critics.

Bill Dillon, Pierre Marchand, Joel Zifkin and Kate's son Rufus Wainwright appear as guest musicians.

The title track was covered by Linda Ronstadt, on her 1993 album Winter Light. Issued as a single, Ronstadt's version of the song boasted a popular music video and peaked at #31 Adult Contemporary in the United States as well as #17 Pop in Canada.
