I assert a social conscience and advocate that the focus of a few public-spirited individuals really can make a difference to the well-being of the communities which define Our Lovely Land. I have no party-specific affinity or agenda. I praise, cajole and lampoon without fear or discrimination. My rantings, have been known to irritate every political persuasion and test the very depths of human endurance. In prolific ramblings, I invite my readers to proceed with caution -but, with the prospect of an honest belly-laugh along the way, be prepared to throw it to the wind. |

My name is John Butler and I was born in 1943 in North Wales, where I've resided all my life. With an elder sister (Marie) and a younger brother (David) I grew-up in SHOTTON (Deeside). My father, Thomas John Butler ("TJ") had an established business in Shotton high-street. I attended Shotton Council school and later the grammar-school in Hawarden. After attaining my ordinary-level GCE examinations, I left school and join the family TV & electric retail business. Whilst working I studied radio-engineering and business/commerce at Kelsterton College (now Deeside College). As a young, private enterprise professional, I was surrounded by the bustling, diverse industries that were the life-blood of the people and the communities of that time. Those days have ended; the industries of steel-making and textiles have all but died away and the people who worked them have moved on. I was profoundly influenced by those days and I'm proud of my area's cultural and industrial heritage. Future generations can learn much from it.
In 1996 I retired from full-time employment. Since then I've worked as a volunteer community commentator and achivist. I want to put something back into the North Wales communities that have been so good to people like me over the generations. Nowadays, I champion self-improvement, life-long learning and performance and appreciation of all things musical. I use the experiences gained during a lifetime working with consumer technology and customer service to discern and recognise individual effort and enterprise -and throw light on some of the complexities of modern times.
