Well, the relatively mild policies mean less victims of mass executions and more expulsions, but I'm not sure how to explain it on the page. Halibutt 10:34, Jul 15, 2004 (UTC)
Removed Category
Is there any proof that Forster was gay? There is nothing in the article to support his inclusion in the Category:Lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender people.A.S. Brown 16:15, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Alleged Execution
Is the writer positive that Forster's death sentence was indeed carried out? I encountered a source (S. Herbert Levine) claiming that ultimately he was not executed and eventually released and lived out his final years in the vicinity of Gdansk.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.154.113.16 (talk • contribs) 01:58, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
I have replaced the statement that Forster was executed with the report apearing in Levine's article that He ultimately was not executed! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.155.23.113 (talk • contribs) 10:35, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
My account that Forster was ultimately not executed was deleted. I have now reinserted it. Unless some conclusive information contradicting Levine's account is presented, it should remain where it presently is. It should be pointed out that with the publication of his book: "Hitler's Free City" Levine has become a leading authority on Nazi era Danzig (or Gdansk, should we anachronisticalluy use the present day name as some here insist) and its gauleiter Albert Forster —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.154.199.168 (talk • contribs) 00:08, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- More detail would be interesting on the matter of his being pardoned (and why he was pardoned - was it because of his relatively lenient treatment of the Poles compared to his Gauleiter neighbours?). If he was actually pardoned by the Poles, why was he then still executed by them?1812ahill (talk) 09:35, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Sanitization
There is more than evidential proof that Forster was one of the parties guilty of the disappearence of the Jewish population under his jurisdiction. So, please stop to try to sanitize his image. If he was relatively good to the Polish population I would like to know the Polish perspective on this. It's clear to me that the omission of the Jewish people and the portrait of Forster as good to the Poles is an outrageous attempt to 'whitewash' his actual doings. Even the ridiculous assertion that he escaped execution is part of that attempt: the Poles let him live for he was their savior! Pathetic, to say the least. I want a Polish source, please. Herbert Levine is only ONE historian.
I will guard this page with attention.
Is the Picture Actually of Forster?
Looking at history listed for the photo there does not appear to be a clear provenance. It oddly claims Forster died in 1945. The picture looks a bit like Heydrich. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.30.202.20 (talk) 14:31, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Marked some POV claims, minor neutrality changes
I marked some POV claims, mainly allegations that imply he was friendly to Poles and this was represented by other Nazis. Also minor neutrality changes regarding claims of territorial continuity.--Molobo (talk) 15:26, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
