Nightwatch (or Nightwatching) is a film written and directed by Peter Greenaway. It is in pre-production stage and is said to start filming in September 2006. [citation needed] The film should be completed by next spring, or by the time of Cannes Film Festival in May 2007. It will star Matthew Macfadyen and Emily Mortimer [1]

Plot Details

This film revolves around the making of Night Watch, the painter Rembrandt's most famous work.

Taken from the preview page on Inuit Pictures website:

In 1642, at the height of his fame and wealth, Rembrandt, very reluctantly, is persuaded by his dying wife Saskia, to take on the commission of a large group portrait of the Amsterdam Militia, which will much later become known as The Nightwatch.

The film is being produced by Kees Kasander and co-produced by Jean Labadie's Bac Films, according to Variety. Labadie's company will handle the French distribution of the film.

According to co-producer Labadie, quoted from the same Variety article as above, this film will be "a return to the Greenaway of The Draughtsman's Contract"
