Sonar is an open source software quality platform. Sonar uses various static code analysis tools such as Checkstyle, PMD, FindBugs to extract software metrics, which then can be used to improve software quality.[1]
Features
- Offers reports on duplicated code, coding standards, unit tests, code coverage, complex code, potential bugs, comments and design and architecture.[2][3]
- Primary supported language is Java. Other languages are supported with extensions.[4][5] Today, several open source and commercial extensions can cover the languages C, C#, PHP, Flex, Groovy, JavaScript, PL / SQL, COBOL and Visual Basic 6.
- It integrates with Maven, Ant and continuous integration tools (Atlassian Bamboo, Jenkins, Hudson).[6][7][8][9]
- Expandable with the use of plugins.[10][11]
- Design and Architecture Metrics.[12]
- Implements SQALE methodology.
Reception
Received the Jolt Awards under testing tools category.[13][14] Featured in continuous integration tools.[15] Used by the Andalusian Autonomous Government,[16] eXo Platform,[17] Apache Software Foundation,[18] Marvelution.[19] Best Sonar Plugins.[20]
