'''Gil-Galad''' became High-king of the Noldor [[Elves]] when the Elven city of Gondolin was destroyed by an invading army of [[Balrogs]], [[Dragons]], [[Trolls]] and [[Orcs]], and King Turgon was killed. Fleeing with the remnants of his people, Gil-Galad eventually established his kingdom in Lindon, (the same place that the Hobbits later established the Shire).
