== When might I get a response/help? ==

[[Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/H. J. High Construction]]

I submitted this article and it was rejected. On Friday, May 11, I wrote to the editor's desk asking for specifics on why my article was rejected, so I could make the necessary revisions and resubmit. I haven't received a response yet and I'm wondering when I might expect one.

Thank you.

How come you report how many Muslims are in the world and not Christians???184.9.151.177 (talk) 03:41, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

You report 1.6 billion Muslims in the world. I had to visit another page to find out how many Christians are in the world. The site I visited said there were 2.18 billion Christians in the world. I always refer other people to Wikipedia for answers. I am at a loss as to this ommission at Wikipedia, unless I'm not asking the question correctly. Thanks for your wonderful site. I use it all the time. Jo Ellen

We do. It's at the bottom of the opening section in Christianity. Someguy1221 (talk) 04:07, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain why the article is not "sufficiently notable", after all, being both a founder member of an international organisation and the oldest such organisation in South Africa, surely that is notable enough? As to their being sufficient notation, could you give an example of what would suffice? I have given references to almost every sentence and used recognised historical sources. Please indicate if you insist only on American sources or precisely what is needed?

Sincerelyvitéz 08:51, 9 May 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cavszabo (talkcontribs)

1) Wikipedia cannot be a source. 2) "being both a founder member of an international organisation and the oldest such organisation in South Africa, surely that is notable enough?" Give independent sources which says that. If it is notable, then there will be more than one source on it. 3) Please use a consistent format when citing (I have fixed it now) 4) If it is not notable, it will never make it on Wikipedia, no matter how much you try. We do not insist on anything. 5) I have found some so-so sources, try adding them on. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 11:51, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

free advertising

We want to post an article about our company which isn't very noteworthy or groundbreaking. Basically we just want to use Wikipedia as advertising and get out information about our small, insignificant company. How do we do this? What are the loop holes? And are there any examples I can copy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.131.156.49 (talk) 15:47, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nullspeeds in General Relativity

"Most people would be very happy to have such a comprehensive, individual explanation of a decision." Why do you group me with most people? I am noted as working to further General Relativity.

I see my name is not attached; I am Norman Albers...MY BROTHER is STEVE ALBERS, and I had mentioned his name as having helped gather ref's, but he is a professional meteorologist. I received a message stating this article no longer had copyright issues, but needed references. These have been included. What is the current status of this article?

Jamesmulder (talk) 20:37, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article still needs work, in my opinion. Of the three links provided, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hal_Davis can't be used as a reference as you're using Wikipedia to source itself (if there's useful info on Hal Davis' page, find out where the author of *that* page got the data and cite that directly, so that this is not merely Wikipedia citing itself), I find nothing on sonorarecorders.com and www.allmusic.com/artist/dennis-moody-p106972/credits is just a discography with little else in the way of biographical info. A biography needs to be sourced more carefully and meticulously than other Wikipedia articles as the reputation of a living person is at stake.
The page is also just a single paragraph (so a bit of a stub... which needs to be expanded) and lacks even the most rudimentary formatting (for instance, [[Phantom of the Opera]] gives a pretty blue link to Phantom of the Opera, a blank line gives a new paragraph, images need to be under a free license and uploaded to this site (or Wikimedia Commons) instead of being posted as off-site links. If you're new to Wikipedia, the "Help" link on the left-hand sidebar should give information on some of the codes you can use to format text and make links to other pages. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 20:09, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I think I may have landed in AfC by mistake. I've been working improving the Sara Niemietz article for about a month. I created Sara Niemietz discography in the Draft section and used the "publish your article" link to arrive here.

After reading up on AfC, I find that there is a backlog of articles and that AfC is meant for those who wish to post anonymously/or don't have enough edits to move the article. Considering the backlog, should I remove the AfC template and move the draft into article space myself?

This will be my first new article, I believe I have decent references and category templates.

Regards, Steve 009o9 (talk) 04:12, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that would be grand. Also, if you can improve on your layout and formatting to suit Wikipedia guidelines, that'd be even better (see WP:LAY). Thanks. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 21:12, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is the article reviewed?

I recently created an article on Erin Martin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erin_Martin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Erin_Martin

I searched for Erin Martin and found no result so I created the article. Now that I've submitted it, I got a warning that a page with the title exists. But when I search for Erin Martin, I redirect to my article of Erin Martin.

So I need confirmation on my article, is there really another article exists with the title of Erin Martin? Or the article meant is actually my article? And is my article reviewed?

Zarryfaz (talk) 04:37, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It means your article. Normally, editors will move the page to the mainspace. I have requested deletion of your AfC page. Good contribution. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 21:07, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am the process of creating a listing for my invention the Trongos, a newly invented musical instrument. Upon review I was informed that I did not have enough resources. My question is: since this is a new invention and I am the inventor, how am I supposed to get resources on something that is so new? Will uploading photos help? Should I list my web page that has information about the Trongos? Richard — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.89.169.169 (talk) 11:29, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Before anything, you have to show your subject (Trongos in your case) is notable. If you can find any newspaper or notable websites that interviewed you about your instrument, or anything else that proves to us that it is notable. See WP:notability for guidance. Please understand we cannot put everything on Wikipedia; there are millions of people inventing many million of things, they invention must be notable for inclusion here. Hope you can understand. WARWICK EVANS DESIGNER

Hi New to all this. I have made THREE requests for clarification. My article about the Cambridge industrial designer has been knocked back due to lack of references. But, it has over a dozen references. I have asked for clarification on this point, but answer comes there none.

Could somebody just send me a simple link to where you would like the references put, please?

Thank you Jhoward2003

Jhoward2003 (talk) 18:54, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is not the quality of your source that is the problem, it is the fact that either we will never be able to find the source and so it is not verifiable, and also because you didn't give us any links to anything specific - i.e. an article about the topic. A lot of topics are covered in the http://www.designcouncil.org.uk website, it's not all on Warwick Evans Designer. Be more specific. Find sources that people can actually look up. Those are the two points of improvement. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 20:53, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathan Erickson Eisley

Question, How do you create a listing for this person, Jonathan Erickson Eisley. He is all over google, IMDB, been an actor for years, his brother David Glen Eisley is on Wiki, his sister in Law, Olivia Hussey is up on Wiki, his niece India Eisley is up here and his father, Anthony Eisley is listed, they are all actors that are known and yet Wikipedia cannot seem to verify any information on Jonathan Erickson Eisley who has been working as an actor and has over 64 credits on the IMDB alone. What is the secret to creating a page for this guy? Please let me know, because the last reviewer declined to open a page up after their review. Thank you, Just google his name and see. Best, A — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aypoliakin (talkcontribs) 20:16, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is not about the subject, it is also about how the article is written. Improve on your article by improving references, expanding the article body, and if you can't be bothered, simply request it so someone else can (MAY) write it for you (see WP:RA) Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 20:58, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My article Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/H. J. High Construction was rejected because it "appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia." However, no indications were given as to which sections or passages were in question.

I'd simply like to know which sections or passages caused the problem, so I'll know where to edit, revise and rewrite. I'd appreciate a response at your earliest convenience. D102653A (talk) 13:17, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I've submitted an article about Google's Penguin update for review on May 8th. How long do you think it will be before it gets reviewed? The big yellow template says it may take several days. But then I read somewhere else (don't remember where exactly, sorry) that it may take weeks. So, I'm confused. Also, can I submit more articles or edit existing entries while I'm waiting for this one to get reviewed? Accepted because it's a 'high value' subject and it's good to go (nothing an AWB user can't clear up in a second or two...). You can edit existing entries and you can submit more. I've just cleared the last of the 1st May submissions, so present waiting time is about 10 days. Pol430 talk to me 17:22, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious as to why an actual medical website and a newspaper (both listed as acceptable sources according to Wiki guidelines is being refused as "reliable sources". What more could be asked for it? Seola1 (talk) 17:43, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Everything being described as "pioneering" or "a first" may be problematic as the requirement for neutrality strongly discourages wording articles in such a way as to appear as self-promotional advertisement. The list of 17 "firsts" looks to be pretty much verbatim from his employer's website, one of the two sources listed for the article. Wikipedia is not a suitable venue for self-promotion. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 03:43, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I submitted an article about the database software Pervasive PSQL (Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/Pervasive PSQL). Apparently, another article exists about that subject. I'm reviewing that article now. However, the name of that article is no longer the name of the database software. Is there a way that I can change the name of the article to reflect the current name of the product? Then I can just add updated content to that article. Handworks (talk) 19:07, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged the page Pervasive PSQL for deletion to allow your submission to be moved to that page name. The Btrieve page should remain as it is, except you may wish to merge the content about Pervasive PSQL into the Pervasive PSQL page (once your submission has been moved). We are just waiting for an admin to sort the page move out, hold on until that's done. Pol430 talk to me 13:42, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean and I can't say I understand why it does that. I manually stuck a new submit tag on it now, so it's now waiting to be reviewed again. All the best, France3470 (talk) 22:57, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you lovely :) Enjoy your weekend! (Juliahuiemartin (talk) 23:19, 12 May 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Due to the technical limitations of the Mediawiki software, the only way we can include a re-submitt link in the template, is to code it so that it creates a new section on the page with {{SUBST:submit}}. The text has not disappeared, you are just editing a new section. It is also for this reason that the new 'pending review tag' appears at the bottom of the page and not the top. Our bot is programed to move the tag to the top of the submission once you have re-submitted it, but seems to be struggling to cope with demand. Pol430 talk to me 11:08, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Changed references on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Guetzloe Report, added information and deleted previous information to focus on The Guetzloe Report, which I believe fit requirements. Can anyone let me know any further information? I think it now looks fine. Thanks.Jerosaur (talk) 14:44, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the references are valid, as far as they go, but guetzloe.com and phoenixnetwork.us are both controlled by Doug Guetzloe as owner of The Phoenix Network and are therefore not neutral sources. The 2006 article Suit against Guetzloe dismissed is also outdated to the point of being misleading as subsequent developments in 2011 Doug Guetzloe loses defamation case, ordered to pay $1.6M tell a very different story. If you must create this page, do be prepared for subsequent editors to remove the material sourced to Guetzloe himself and add as much dirt from sources unflattering to your subject. The topic is valid but I don't think you're going to like the result of dumping this into an encyclopaedia that any danged fool can edit where highly-negative but reliably-sourced info can be added to cut your golden boy down at least a notch or two. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 16:30, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am the author of material you have cited as being authored by others. My position is PA to Richard David Hames and Dhurakij Pundit University used my copy and not the other way round. Thank you in anticipation of your advice concerning this. Suna Butsuwan Asian Foresight Institute — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suna Butsuwan (talkcontribs) 15:52, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you wrote this text during the course of your employment as personal assistant to Richard David Hames, you have two problems. One is that copyright in something someone else paid you to write likely belongs not to you but to the company. The other is that you have a huge conflict of interest on this particular subject. As such, it may be best to leave the topic alone - if someone else who only heard of this topic in a book or newspaper somewhere (assuming it's notable enough to merit more than a mention in either) wanted to try to write something and cite reliable sources, that's different but self-promotion is generally a no-no here. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 16:06, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

adding a word to wikipedia

Hello, I have created a new word that I would like to place in the wikipedia dictionary. By placing Manny in the dictionary will this establish a copyright trail? Mymanny — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mymanny (talkcontribs) 16:25, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a dictionary. Wiktionary is a dictionary but the word has to already exist and be noted by reliable sources to justify its inclusion - which it is likely not the case if you have newly created it. Wikipedia and Wiktionary content is made available for attributed free re-use by anyone so isn't a good way to establish copyright in any case. In other words, don't bother. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 16:34, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was wondering what I need to add to ensure Shoreline Scripts is listed on Wikipedia? I don't see how our entry is any different to Kao Films Competition, which is listed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaos_Films

Thanks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Shorelinescripts (talkcontribs) 16:49, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You need better sources to establish notability; Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or your own site are neither neutral nor reliable. To write a page about yourself is also a huge conflict of interest which almost never results in a neutral, factual encyclopaedia article. Blatant self-promotion tends not to be welcomed on Wikipedia. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 17:03, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like the organization 'Shoreline Scripts' does not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Unless you can evidence that they do, by following the advice above, the submission cannot be accepted. Wikipedia only wants articles about notable subjects; it is an encyclopedia. Thank you for pointing out the Kaos Films article, I have nominated it for deletion as it also seems non-notable. Pol430 talk to me 19:33, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For the help desk: The reviewer of my proposed article for creation states that I should add an "info box." I'm uncertain what this means, beyond the table of contents that's already shown in the draft article. Please advise me. Tswilk3 (talk) 23:22, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You don't need an Info Box. I don't know why the reviewer suggested it. I don't know why the reviewer had a problem with lack of neutrality either. The major problem is that the subject is not notable or, if she is, you need to provide the sources to prove it, as per the 'golden rule'. Sionk (talk) 01:49, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I've submitted Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/The Rainbow Stories for review and I'm wondering how long it usually takes to get feedback on that. Thanks!D. Winter (talk) 05:15, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is currently quite a backlog (although this is often the case). 637 submissions are awaiting review, mostly dated from May 7th until today. It could potentially take a number of days. France3470 (talk) 19:05, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Team. I have a question concerning the reason of the decline of this article: It says " clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia"

I wrote this article, as I detected this payment method more and more often (e.g. on facebook, etc.) and I wanted to find out more on Wikipedia. I found articles about all the other payment methods - and some of them seem much more local and small. In fact I was e.g. surprised, that Safetypay can be used on many continents (South America, Europe, the US) and that they even have a patent, etc. This is why I wanted to share with others, who might also check Wikipedia.

My question now: Why is this "not notable", while all the others seem to be (I can give examples)? Maybe it´s because it is my first contribution on Wikipedia ... I try to find out before, what if it makes sense at all to make contributions.

Thanks a lot, Dkp006 (talk) 05:41, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Articles about for-profit corporations can be awkward as one needs many reliable sources to establish that this is as neutral and balanced encyclopaedia article about a notable entity instead of merely a company advertisement. As such, it's best to avoid creating the sort of copy that looks like it could be right at home on the "About Us" page of the company's website - which may be an issue as many of the sources you've cited are merely news media reprinting SafetyPay press releases verbatim, without obtaining facts from neutral or external sources. The company does appear to exist (as listed by Bloomberg) and is getting a bit of press coverage (some of it Spanish language, anywhere from Spain to Peru) so the topic itself is likely valid if it can be sourced from something other than self-promotional press release material and written in a neutral, objective manner instead of as an advertisement for the firm. Odds are, this article can be fixed by relying on neutral and objective sources and removing anything that looks like self-promotion. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 17:07, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for creation/KARAT Coalition - copy right issue

Hi,

I have submitted an article about KARAT Coalition (Article for Creation/KARAT Coalition). I will add that I am doing it on behalf of KARAT Coalition, as I am employed by KARAT. I was informed that it cannot be published because it is in breach of copy rights of Wikipedia as it appears to be taken from web pages including http://www.sccd-sk.org/en/sckr/partneri/zoskupenia-organizacii/koalicia-karat and others. This page (and possibly other pages) is the websites of an organisation which is a member organisation of KARAT Coalition (KARAT has 60 member organisations). Therefore on this web page KARAT member organisation published basic information about KARAT Coalition, which KARAT Coalition makes available to its members for this purpose (it is not copyrighted). In fact I wrote various versions of the original information with two other colleagues from KARAT Coalition. The same content can be also fund on KARAT Coalition websites www.karat.org, although it is more hidden. This is the original source of the information although it is also not copyrighted. So the content which I wanted to include in Wikipedia article about KARAT Coalition already exist on various web pages. Does it mean that because this content already exists in the internet, for the purpose of the Wikipedia article we have to re-invent basic information about KARAT Coalition (which we ourselves originally writen)? Citing those pages does not make sense as they are not primary sources of the information. I can quote KARAT’s official webiste, but still parts of the content (eg. KARAT’s history, its mission, etc) will appear on number of other websites.

Please let me know how this issue can be addressed as at the moment it does not make sense.

To write an article about yourself is a clear conflict of interest and best avoided. An organisation's description of itself is not a neutral and reliable source, so should not be relied upon as a key source for your article. As for copyright, legally the default is that a newly-created work is copyrighted unless its creator explicitly releases it to the public domain or under some sort of free license. One cannot copyright information, only the wording, illustration and presentation of that information so finding a source which is independent of your article's subject, paraphrasing what they have to say on the topic and citing that source is not plagiarism while a cut-and-paste of text from some website most definitely is. In any case, I'd ask that you don't write an article about your employer. If the topic is notable and independent, reliable sources exist for the info, then someone who doesn't have a direct stake in the matter may be better placed to draft something which is an encyclopaedia article and not a blatant advertisement. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 16:51, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rejected entry and wrong photo

Hello,

I have been trying to create the page Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Surrey Canal which has been rejected several times for not adequately evidencing the subject's notability.

We have quotes 5 independent sources for the page and it has been reported in the national media so it seems odd that it isn't noteworthy enough.

I also tried to upload photos when creating the page but i was told i was not allowed as i was a new user. The file names were displayed though and someone else has now added a completely irrelevant picture to the page.

How can i delete this photo and upload my own?

Kind regards,

Surreycanal (talk) 14:10, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Files for upload is an option if you, as a new user, do not have the ability to WP:UPLOAD for whatever reason. In general, substantial coverage in reliable sources should be enough to establish notability but an article must also be neutral and objective. Don't write something that looks like an advertisement and don't attempt to cover topics in which you hold a vested interest and you should be fine (given that Auntie Beeb seems to think this topic actually does exist). 66.102.83.61 (talk) 17:21, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New article on Libertarian Paternalism 3

Hi,

I posted a question a month ago or so and got some reactions but feel it was not answered. I described the issue on May 4th but get on response. Here we go again! Please advice!

Here is the question:

"Hi, I recently created a new article/entry on Libertarian Paternalism. I have written a PhD thesis on related stuff and currently lead a research project on libertarian paternalism in particular financed by the EU commission. In brief, I am an expert on this. The review of my article said I should withdraw it and instead improve on the article on Soft Paternalism. However, though "soft paternalism" is sometimes used to refer to Libertarian Paternalism, this is very much a minority practice. Soft paternalism has two main uses, one of which has some overlap with Libertarian Paternalism. I have edited the entry on Paternalism to reflect this fact. Ideally, what should happen is for the article on Soft paternalism to be removed, as this concept is now treated in the entry on Paternalism. Also, the existing entry on Soft Paternalism as I said reflect a minority view. The definition cited at the beginning of the article refers to an article in The Economist, hardly a very authoritative source in this context."

I also added this piece of information for context:

"I explained all this to my reviewer (User:Tom Morris) on his talk page but it seems he choose to simply delete my questions and suggestions. In any case they are no longer on his talk page and there is nothing on my talk page to explain what may have happened.

Please advice. I am rather new to editing Wikipedia but believe I could do some good if I just get over these stumbling blocks. Thank you. Filofil (talk) 14:31, 14 April 2012 (UTC)"

Below is the answer I got. It notes that part of the new entry on Libertarian Paternalism is more or less copied from the text in the Soft Paternalism entry. I don't see why this is a problem, and it is anyway not related to my question. I know there is an entry on Soft Paternalism that partly deals with Libertarian Paternalism. For example the copied section, that is why I copied it. However, the name of this entry is misleading, the entry is neither about Soft Paternalism as this phrase is most typically understood, nor on Libertarian Paternalism. I hope you can see the problem here? I'm just trying to provide a solution but feel a bit frustrated that it is being opposed for reasons I fail to see. (Psychologically speaking this tends to make me feel like an outsider having stumbled into a world of people rather protective of "their" bits of text and of "the way we usually do things around here". But I try to tell myself this is just my subjective impression caused by anxiety in the face of this system and community that I don't yet understand.)

The only thing DCS says in relation to my question is that since the two entries have one section of text in common they cannot be different enough to deal with two different things. This is obviously just a logical mistake (the sequence 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and the sequence 1, 2, 3, 5 contain many of the same elements but one is the start of the sequence of natural numbers, the other the start of the sequence of prime numbers (and these two things should have two separate entries, as they do)).

It would also be interesting to learn more about norms regarding the attribution of text sections to wiki authors when text is moved, in relation to DCS:s comment, but this is not my main concern.

Here is the answer from User:Dcshank

"Filofil,
There are no secrets on the Wiki and there is a record of everything.  I have reviewed the comments from User:Tom Morris and I have to agree with the him.  But I find even more of a problem, your example is almost a word for word duplicate of the example from Soft paternalism.

Consider the default contribution rates on defined contribution tax-deferred retirement savings plans in the United States. Until recently, the default contribution rate for most plans was zero, and despite the enormous tax advantages, many people took years to start contributing if they ever did. Behavioral economists attribute this to the "status quo bias", the common human resistance to changing one's behavior, combined with another common problem: the tendency to procrastinate. Research by behavioral economists demonstrated, moreover, that firms which raised the default rate instantly and dramatically raised the contribution rates of their employees.

As an example, take the default contribution rates on defined contribution tax-deferred retirement savings plans in the United States. I'm not suggesting that you copied from that article, each article cites a different reference.  But, if both articles cite exactly the same example, I can't see that there could be enough difference between the two that there needs to be a separate article.  I suggest talking with the people here, Portal:Libertarianism, before you resubmit your article.    :- ) DCS 05:09, 15 April 2012 (UTC)"[reply]

Henne Jewelers articles for submission

Dear Reviewer, I have been attempting to get my article on Henne Jewelers approved for submision for months now but it keeps getting rejected. I first had a few paragraphs in the article but now have narrowed it down to 3 sentences which still won't be approved? I also have 8 or so sources...The store has been a big part of pittsburgh since 1887 and is a big part of the community. That's a lot longer than a lot of other private companies on wikipedia. Thanks for all your help! Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Henne Jewelers GarrettRS1 (talk) 14:49, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The reviewers did not ask you to delete the article, they asked you to write it in a neutral manner, citing it to reliable, independent sources. You need to prove the subject is notable enough for an encyclopedia. We can't just take your word for it. The company's own webpages, or Facebook page, don't count towards proving 'notability'. Wikipedia has guidelines tailored towards companies and organizations, at WP:NCORP. The best way of demonstrating the company is sufficiently notable is to point us towards newspaper or magazine articles, or books about the company AND incorporate some of the information from these sources into the article Sionk (talk) 15:29, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The page in question that I am submitting to Wikipedia is not copyright and I am the author. As Richard Hames's PA at the Asian Foresight Institute it is my responsibility to provide copy for his agents and all other publicity material. The Dhurakij Pundit University biography which your reviewer claimed was copyright was written by me and was authorised personally by Professor Hames. Also if your reviewer had checked he/she would have seen that Richard resigned from DPU over 18 months ago and is no longer on the staff. Therefore the DPU page is irrelevant anyway. I would appreciate your advice on what I do now. Thanks Suna Butsuwan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suna Butsuwan (talkcontribs) 15:38, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you had 'checked' Wikipedia's copyright policies, you would know that we take copyright violations seriously. If we suspect a submission is a copyright violation, it cannot be accepted. If you truly own the copyright for the text in question then you may officially release it to Wikipedia by following the instructions at WIkipedia:Donating copyrighted material. loading photos into wikipedia article

Can I move a photo from my My Pictures file into a Wikipedia article? And how do I do this? The photo comes from the National Archives of Canada and is in the public domain. Is there an 'insert' button somewhere on Wikipedia that I'm missing? When I try to copy the photo, I can't do it. Thank you.Nicola Mitchell (talk) 15:45, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Don Gutterideg: Poet

1. I let a typo get through in the original headline. It should be Don Gutteridge: Poet. I can't find a way to correct it.

2. The original submission was refused. I have now added references, but I can't navigate back to the pink and yellow boxes that say "when ready to submit, click here and press save page." That page disappeared when I pressed edit. If I used the previous page arrow, the edits disappear.Floorwik (talk) 16:16, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about the typo it will be sorted if/when the submission is accepted. You can find your submission at: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Don Gutterideg: Poet. I have tidies it up and added some basic formatting. Pol430 talk to me 19:34, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How do I post this article for review?

You need to add {{SUBST:submit}} to the top. I've now gone ahead and done that for you. Someone will be along to review it shortly. Thanks, France3470 (talk) 17:17, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The subject article start has inline citations on almost every phrase, but it is still being rejected. I am confused. Thanks,

It should not have been declined for that reason. The actual issue with this submission is that the notability of the system is not sufficiently evidenced. Please see The Golden Rule. Pol430 talk to me 19:43, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So the topic is more appropriate as a subsection of another article. Seems reasonable.

Maybe under the Mass Spectrometer article? Just copy and paste under the appropriate heading? :p Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 21:24, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your answer, and your help. I have added some notes and references, and managed to save them, so it's ready for re-submission. But I still can't see how to re-submit.

Thanks. Floorwik (talk) 20:22, 14 May 2012 (UTC) floorwik[reply]

No one has accepted or declined it, there is no need to resubmit. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 21:21, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We have repeatedly taken out any language that the help desk people say might trigger the NPOV reason for rejecting the submission. What we can't tell is if the current version has been rejected, or if it's still under consideration. If the former, what more can we do to make the language neutral? If the latter, what's the page's current status?

Thx... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jldeitch (talkcontribs) 22:39, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

I'm just wondering why my article for Hastings Tile and Bath was not approved. I understand that there are strict rules about promotion on wikipedia however, Hastings is a historic company that is referenced in other wikipedia articles. I do not work for Hastings, I was just trying to close a gap in the information available about the town of Hastings-on-Hudson where they were established. Was my article not approved because of a technicality to do with the promotion rules, or is there another issue?

Trying to get my foothold as a Wiki contributor, this is my first article. Suggestions very welcome. Thanks,

Ryan

Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre

Hi, this article was denied even though I´ve added several external links to corroborate. What more can I do? (I´m new to Wikipedia) And what does it mean the article was turned down by a bot - "ArticlesForCreationBot". The only one more piece of evidence I have is a 2-year old pdf "festival program" sent to me by the film festival itself. Can I use that somehow? Everything in the article is taken from these sources and double checked by the spanish version of this article which was not done by me.

Any help to a newbie would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

This definitely needs proper formatting of text and you also need to cite reliable sources to indicate where you obtained the information (as Wikipedia does not accept first-hand accounts or original research of any kind).
