Mona Island is part of the Antilles and pertain to the Puerto Rican territory. The island extent an area of 40 km2, and is 80 km away from [[Puerto Rico]]. In [[December 22 of 1919]] it was declared Insular Forest of Puerto Rico, under the authority of the Forest Law (law #22).
