King Cobra is a water slide currently under construction at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, adjacent to Six Flags Great Adventure, in Jackson, New Jersey. The ride will be manufactured by Turkish manufacturer, Polin.[2][3][4]

History

American Coaster Enthusiasts announced on February 10, 2012, that Six Flags Great Adventure's Hurricane Harbor had a big announcement for the 2012 season on February 13.[5] On the morning of February 13, 2012, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor: New Jersey announced King Cobra for the 2012 season.[2] Due to open in early July 2012, King Cobra is marketed as the first ride of its kind in the United States.[1][3] The new water slide will be built instead of the proposed drop boxes scheduled to be added to the park's existing The Falls water slides.[2][4]

Ride

King Cobra will feature two dueling slides. The ride will begin with a figure eight before dropping down a 25-foot (7.6 m) drop at speeds of up to 32 miles per hour (51 km/h). The drop is the entry point into a Sidewinder element that looks like a cobra head. Within this element riders oscillate back and forth before coming to a stop in the middle.[2][6] King Cobra will be orange bold, black and yellow scales to resemble a massive cobra on both the interior and exterior of the slide.[2] The slide will be built in the middle of Hurricane Harbor and take the place of an existing, sandy volleyball pit.[3]
