Rouse Properties (NYSERSE) is a publicly traded real estate investment trust headquartered in New York City. The company was created in August 2011 as a spin-off entity of General Growth Properties, Inc. ("GGP") after GGP filed a Form 10 registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission.[1][2] Rouse Properties owns 30 malls in 19 states encompassing approximately 21 million square feet of retail space.[3] In February 2012, leading investment website Seeking Alpha published an article suggesting that Rouse Properties may be undervalued, but that part of this undervaluation comes from the leverage.[4]
