Boot socks, also referred to sometimes as "backpacking socks" or "hiking socks" are a type of sock suitable for wearing with boots. Boot socks vary in length from mid-calf socks that rise to just above the ankles to thigh-high length socks designed to be worn under fishing waders.[1]
Uses
Boot socks can be worn for comfort or for fashion. The traditional use of these heavy socks is to protect the foot from blisters while working or hiking, and manufacturers sell socks of varying materials and thickness, to provide wearers with the necessary warmth and cushioning for their use. Recreational hikers frequently wear extra long boot socks slouched down around the ankle to create a pleasing casual look. Another popular fashion trend is for young women to wear leggings and extra long boot socks that are folded into a cuff over the top of the boots.
