Substantial rewrite
I've just contributed a substantial rewrite of the entire article. It had been derelict for some time and neglected Wikipedia's core content policies, especially with regards to meeting WP:V and lacking necessary citations. I have removed the reference improvement tag. Any and all feedback on the rewrite would be appreciated. John Shandy` • talk 00:33, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

- I'll do this review.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:36, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
The lead for an aritcle this length should probably be about 3 paragraphs.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:46, 20 June 2012 (UTC)At 1275 characters of readable prose, the LEAD is about half the proper length for this size article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:46, 20 June 2012 (UTC)The LEAD should summarize the rest of the article. Include a summary of each section of the main body in the LEAD.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:46, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- I have expanded the lead to cover more of the most important concepts from each of the major sections. It now better summarizes the governance, membership, services, and financial performance of the IFC. The lead may have further to go, but I think it is now more thorough in summarizing the IFC. Anyone is of course welcome to comment on the lead or suggest further improvements. John Shandy` • talk 22:11, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- I am in too much of a rush to read the content closely, but I see the new content is entirely unlinked. That seems odd. I will look more closely in a few hours.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:08, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- I thought that might cause concern, but I am conflicted about whether to link some of those things in the lead rather than in their actual sections; I sometimes diverge from linking the first occurrence of a concept word if it makes more sense to link it in an occurrence where it is surrounded with greater context (and where a reader may be more inclined to click it and read further). I'll wait for you to look at it more closely and offer some feedback, then I'll adjust accordingly. John Shandy` • talk 00:35, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- I have gone ahead and linked some additional concepts and also unlinked a few things in the body to instead link them in the lead. It might could use a few more, but I think it's a step up - I agree that it looks weird if it's bare. John Shandy` • talk 00:46, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

- History
$600,000 needs a current dollar conversion. See how this is done at Bobby Orr. Do this for all 20th century dollar amounts.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:03, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- I have updated the 20th century dollar values to feature their present value representations in parentheses. John Shandy` • talk 18:02, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
Link Deutsche Bank, Bertin, palm oil, aluminum smelting, emissions, line of credit.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:03, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- I have wikilinked those items. Bertin (Bertin Group) is now wikilinked to Grupo Bertin. John Shandy` • talk 18:02, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
Use {{asof}} in place of text here and elsewhere.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:03, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- I have now made use of the As of template in all instances. John Shandy` • talk 18:02, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
Does sustainability have a link in this context?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:03, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- I've wikilinked it to Sustainability; there are lots of sustainability articles, but the main one is most relevant to the IFC's Environmental and Social Standards as it actually covers environmental, economic, and social sustainability.John Shandy` • talk 18:02, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- Investment services
"In its fiscal year 2010, the IFC invested $12.7 billion, of which 39% financed projects in the poorest nations" - How many countries? How many investments? Give us a range of investment sizes.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:27, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- The Ottenhoff source doesn't specify the number of projects funded or countries served, but the annual report does. I have rewritten that content as: In its fiscal year 2010, the IFC invested $12.7 billion in 528 projects across 103 countries. Of that total investment commitment, approximately 39% ($4.9 billion) was invested into 255 projects across 58 member nations of the World Bank's International Development Association (IDA). which cites the 2010 Annual Report. I also cleaned up wikilinks for International Development Association and made sure that the acronym is defined here before it is used in subsequent sections. Link or explain FEMSA, private equity.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:27, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- There is a FEMSA article, but it is a beverage company in Latin America. I added a reference from the website for Bosch Spain (of which former FEMSA became a part) to help explain FEMSA and link the user to its present-day entity. I have also wikilinked private equity funds. John Shandy` • talk 18:31, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
Stock exchange should be the link for stock market above.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:27, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- Though related, they are two different things so I have linked stock markets to stock market (under History) and left stock exchange linked to stock exchange (under Investment services). John Shandy` • talk 18:31, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- I am placing this on hold. Respond to each concern on the following line. I will reevaluate this article within one week.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:32, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- I am passing this article. Fabulous job.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:09, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
