In 2004, Adams made a one-time appearance to teach a [[Learning Annex]] course called "How to Marry Rich". Adams turned the lesson around to teach the attendees that they should be successful in their own rite and marry for happiness not money, stating during the lesson "I really did marry for love. Honestly-I didn’t care about meeting someone successful. I already had seven figures in the bank, so I didn’t need my husband’s seven figures. Women should find someone they’re really happy with, not just seek out men for their bank account. And if you’re not attracted to a man, the marriage is not going to work out." <ref>[http://www.observer.com/2004/live-and-uncensored-its-dave Live and Uncensored: It’s Dave | The New York Observer</ref> |

===Guardianship case=== |
|||
In 2008, when Adams' older aunt became ill, Adams applied for guardianship. Adams later filed charges with the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct against a Supreme Court Judge for handling her petition improperly. Soon after, the judge stepped down, a Superior Court Assignment Judge was assigned to the matter, Adams obtained legal guardianship, and transferred her aunt to New York City. Adams dedicated a book to her aunt entitled "Guardian", which described the experience.<ref name="NJ">{{cite web|url=http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2010/05/former_playmate_stephanie_adam.html|title=Former Playmate, Stephanie Adams, fights in Hudson court for custody of aunt|last=Hayes|first=Melissa|date=2 May 2010|publisher=The Jersey Journal|accessdate=21 April 2012}}</ref><ref name="NJ">{{cite web|url=http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2010/05/former_model_files_suit_agains.html|title=Former model files a complaint against Supreme Court judge for delays in her aunt's case|last=Hayes|first=Melissa|date=10 May 2010|publisher=The Jersey Journal|accessdate=2 July 2012}}</ref> |

Stephanie Adams (born in Orange, New Jersey, July 24, 1970)[1] is an American model and author. She was the November 1992 Playboy Playmate.
Career
After graduating from Ophelia DeVore School of Charm, then appearing in photo shoots for Seventeen magazine, Venus Swimwear, and commercial advertisements for Clairol,[2] Adams appeared as "Miss November 1992" in Playboy magazine.[1] She dated John Casablancas, CEO of Elite Model Management.[3]
Adams has appeared on the cover of Village Voice.[4] She made a cameo appearance for the "Top 10" list on the Late Show with David Letterman on November 20, 2003, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Playboy magazine.[5]
In 1999, Adams founded Goddessy, according to her a portmanteau of "goddess" and "odyssey". She published her first book in 2003, and started her own publishing company in 2007. Following the death of her aunt from breast cancer on her birthday July 24, 2003, she decided to dedicate most of her time to writing. That same year, a book was published and dedicated to her deceased aunt titled He Only Takes The Best, followed by another book written in honor of her elderly aunt titled Guardian. Adams has produced two dozen metaphysical books, astrology calendars, and tarot cards, primarily titled Goddessy.[6][7]
In 2004, Adams taught a Learning Annex course called "How to Marry Rich". [8]
Personal life
Early life
Adams was born in New Jersey and raised in New York. She has African American, Caucasian, and Cherokee ancestry.[9] She was raised by her aunts, former models who encouraged her to begin modeling at the age of 16.[2]
LGBT activism
In a February 2003 She magazine cover story Adams came out as a lesbian, the first Playmate to have done so.[10] In their 2004 "Best of", the Village Voice declared her the "Best lesbian sex symbol", saying it was "hard to turn a page in a queer rag without seeing the willowy model peeking out in a bikini, or nothing at all".[11] Adams was a visible presence in the LGBT community and founded the online lesbian community Sapphica.com, which was active from 2003 until 2009.[7][12][13][14]
In November 2009, she announced she was engaged to a man.[15][16] At about the same time, she said she was straight.[17] After her marriage, she said she would spend most of her time privately with her husband and son.[18]
NYPD lawsuit
In May 2006, during a dispute over where to drop her off, a New York City taxi driver called the police and falsely reported that Adams was armed with a gun and had threatened to shoot him.[19][20] The taxi driver's license was subsequently revoked and he was fined $2,700 for the incident.[21][22] Adams alleged that during the incident police threw her to the ground, causing injuries to her neck and back.[23]
Adams filed a lawsuit against the NYPD in 2006. In February 2012, a jury awarded her $1.2 million, $400,000 more than had been sought by her lawyer.[24][25][26] Adams stated that she has "no animosity toward the NYPD".[27][28]
