Word choice

Nationality

So why did you say she was "British Welsh"? I've changed the text to match what Jones herself says. And I've removed the entirely pointless links to UK, London, Russia etc... She is regarded as a Welsh athlete, just as every other Welsh athlete who has represented Team GB in an Olympic games is listed on wikipedia (Colin Jackson, Dai Greene, Nicole Cooke, Tanni Grey-Thompson, Geraint Thomas, Cecil Griffiths, John Ainsworth-Davis, Ryan Giggs, etc). This issue seems to be constantly raising it's ugly head, and for the sake of consistency, please refrain from deviating away from the agreed protocols.Aldwynson (talk) 19:52, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

The only reason they are being listed as Welsh is because of people like you, who go around patrolling the aforementioned articles undoing edits with no explanation whatsoever, even if the evidence says otherwise. She's a British athlete who happens to have been born in Wales. She doesn't even live there. Thanks. She has won all her major titles for Great Britain, not Wales. Please stop the nationalism, it's entirely pointless. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:21, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Where one lives does not change where one is born. Please refrain from bringing nationalistic arguments into what is a straightforward issue. Please see previous example of people classified as Welsh who do not live in Wales that have represented Great Britain at an Olympic games and won medals exclusively for the Great British team (despite the fact for whom one competes does not change a fixed legal definition of nationality), (Ryan Giggs, Tammi Grey-Thompson, Geraint Thomas), also, she resides in Manchester due to her training facilities being located there. She has also been referred to as Welsh in all aspects of media discussion, she has also established her self as Wales in the media and during her celebration upon winning the medal. This was not an issue until she won a gold medal, and at the moment it seems to be oozing a nationalistic agenda, an issue which has not been raised with other such athletes of the home nations, who are classified in their appendix as their home nation nationality, and as British under their info box nationality. She is British, just as she is Welsh. However, wikipedia protocol on classification of British people is to list their home nation status in the appendix, and the "British" status in the info box. It comes across as inconsistent when this basic form of classification is not followed, especially when it is followed by every other media outlet, for a reason that just seems to be for some nationalistic agenda, rather than being factually correct. She also consistently references herself as Welsh on her personal twitter, feed. A quick example of credible media outlets preferring to refer to her as Welsh include: Wales Online, BBC,TNT UK, Argus, Huffington,ITV. It seems you persistently try to engage myself into an "edit war". Please refrain from doing so. There is though. Like I said, protocol on any person who is indisputably of Welsh ethnicity is listed as Welsh in the appendix, followed by their nationality listed as British in the info box, I fail to see why Jade Jones is any different whatsoever. The only notable exceptions are those people who were born when England-Wales borders had not been legally established (for example, Bertrand Russell). It's quite frankly comical the levels in which some people will go to, to deliberately smear facts for some form of anti-ethnic agenda. If we are now using this new system of labelling ever person from the United Kingdom, as British in their appendix, then all articles related to English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish peoples must now be amended. A small example of articles than now need to be amended for you start off: David Beckham, should be listed as British, not English. Alex Salmond should now be listed as British, not Scottish. Tom Jones, should now be listed as British, not Welsh. Andy Murray should now be listed as British, not Scottish. Can not see the absurdity of it?
