Is it just me, or was Milhouse based in part on Paul Pfeiffer (played by Josh Saviano) from the Wonder Years?

Milhouse's allergens

One unspecified user listed several of his allergens as "dairy" and "non-dairy." This would make him allergic to every substance known to man, and thus killing off the character (unless he dies of an allergic reaction). --Chapas45 9 December 2006 07:34 (UTC)

Given Matt Groening's tendency to name characters after streets in his hometown (Lovejoy, Flanders), more emphasis should be placed on Milhouse's last name as a street rather than the Charles Manson follower. ~~

Ethnicity

Unless I'm mistaken, we only definitively know that Milhouse is Dutch, right? His grandmother living in Italy does not guarantee that he is Italian, and his receiving a gift for a Greek Orthodox holiday is even less convincing; only ethnic Greeks can be Greek Orthodox? Okay, now I'm curious, because these edits seem to come in bunches, so where is this "Milhouse is a meme"/"Milhouse is not a meme" crap coming from? It's weird because you'll get three or four different anons adding it in a few days, then there will be nothing for a month, then it will come back. Yeah, that's kind of the joke. There is an episode where Lisa needs to learn Italian - it turns out that Milhouse is fluent in Italian from spending summers in Italy with his grandmother. During a flashback, she scolds him for speaking in English, calling him Milhouse Mussolini Van Houten and 'Idiota' and chases him with an olive branch. faithless (^speak) 02:53, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I have not seen the English-dubbed episode, only the Italian one: it should be precised that, as it comes out during that episode, Milhouse looks to be able to speak both Italian language (at least by what he says himself) and some Sicilian dialect, but he seems to teach Lisa just the second one and not "real" Italian. I have seen the episode some time ago and remember the situation. The woman did call him that way, but the context does not make it clear that's the name: rather than that, it seems that the grandmother was adding the "Mussolini" part to the name in order to emphasize her anger with milhouse for not speaking italian. Besides, a character set as italian using the name of a italian dictator as an insult seems more solid as a plot element than using a full name to emphasize anger.

Writing from Italy (at least for now...) I can say that no one here intended it as an insult but instead as his second name; and the Italian dubbing leaves no doubt. Anyway, I do not know anyone who would use "Mussolini" as an insult, but for political use only (e.g. he behaves like Mussolini, to mean that he wants all the power). Actually, Milhouse, his parents and friends are all fictional characters. They will say or do whatever the script writers want them to. Thanks for reminding me that Milhouse is a fictional character; however, it does not negate the fact that this name would not be used by his, albeit fictional, friends and family. Also, a (fictional) Italian grandmother is unlikely to express her anger by calling someone Mussolini, as he was very popular and even venerated there in the past. I guess that's why she had her grandson named after him. Of course, to any sensible person, that is hardly acceptable; that is the joke. Since we're in another stretch of continuous edit/revert/edit/revert, it's probably time to discuss it again. Outside of one episode, there has been no mention of "Mussolini" being his middle name. Since The Simpsons has no problems with contradicting itself for the sake of a joke, it would seem that the only sure way to solve this would be for his name to appear in another episode. For example, if Mrs. Krabappel or even his mom got so irate and called him "Milhouse Mussolini Van Houten!", just like his Italian grandmother did, then that would be enough for me to say that's what it is. --McDoobAU93 21:57, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

It says citation needed for Milhouse being asserted as gay or bi, well, can't we cite episodes? I have a scene in my mind, but I can't find evidence that it actually exists. The family is at the dinner table and Homer is making jokes using Milhouse as a punchline. Marge tells him to stop. Later, she makes a joke that bombs. Homer tells her, "See? It doesn't work without Milhouse."
