ACG Sunderland is a private school and is part of Academic Colleges Group. It is located in Henderson, a western suburb of Auckland. [2]
Foundation
The Sunderland Education Trust founded Sunderland in 2007 as "Sunderland School and College". It was the first private school in Waitakere City (West Auckland). In 2010, Academic Colleges Group (ACG) took over the management contract for Sunderland, changing the name to ACG Sunderland. The school occupies the building formerly used by the Waitakere City Council.[3]
Student body
ACG Sunderland provides education to boys and girls from Years 1 to 13 [4], and currently has plans for an onsite kindergarten. The student body is split into four houses, named after four founders of the school - Tong, Fleming, Findlay, and McDonald.
Curriculum
ACG Sunderland offers the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and is a member of the Association of Cambridge Schools in New Zealand.[5] Subjects include English, Mathematics, Co-ordinated Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Art, Geography and Physical Education. ICT is integrated. There is a Spanish teaching room and rooms for learning support, ESOL, College art and Primary School art. [6]

Also the school is currently building a gym that will be up and running by 2012.[citation needed]Since term two, the school gymnasium has been up and running. The jym is verry well used at the school and one of the funnested thigs is doge ball in the gym
Campus
ACG Sunderland’s campus comprises architecturally designed premises and nine acres of landscaped grounds. As well as providing a full-sized gymnasium, computer suites, science laboratories, art rooms and a specialist technology department, the School places emphasis on the performing arts, with specialist music rooms, a band practice room, a drama room and a 150-seat auditorium.[7]
Science and Technology
ACG Sunderland offers computer suites with class sets of computers for both the Primary School and College, and by 2012 there will be a wireless network throughout the school. The suites are equipped with SMART Boards. Many classrooms have built-in data projectors. Both the Primary School and College use science laboratories and a technology room.[citation needed]
The Arts
ACG Sunderland is equipped for music and drama with Primary School and College music rooms, a drama room and 250-seat auditorium.[citation needed]
Sunderland was involved in the ACG Schools 'Imagine' Concert 2010, and the 'Time of Our Lives' concert 2011. There is no formal drama for the college, only amateur plays normally in term 2 or 3. There are a range of bands at the school, who work with the music teacher and who have entered and won various competitions.[citation needed]
