Template Something's wrong with the template. It tried to fix it, but to no avail. Blackjays1 (talk) 21:07, 9 October 2008 (UTC) I believe I've fixed it. It had a number of problems caused mainly by "reggae" not being capitalized as "Reggae". Also, most of the necessary categories didn't exist. I've created them all and deleted the old ones that weren't capitalized. There's been an edit war at Reggaeton and neither warnings, nor requests to leave the article alone and discuss on the talk page, nor temporary semi-protection has accomplished anything. The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. Removed commas that appeared before Conjunctions and checked Genitive Case. Also edited some of the longer sentences so that the object or subject of the sentence was clearer. Sentences that contain many subjects and objects tend to present the reader with a long list of information that is difficult to remember. I'm not convinced that this subject meets theWP:MUSICBIO notability criteria. I've added one (not particularly strong) reference but it really needs more than this. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm. We have quite a few reggaeton artists tagged as part of this project. Reggaeton is a genre influenced by reggae, but that is where the link ends. Other than a couple peripheral dancehall artists, there are no notable reggae artists who dabble in the reggaeton genre, and reggaeton should not be part of the reggae portal.--Chimino (talk) 11:58, 23 January 2011 (UTC) Ditto, there's been surprisingly few reggaeton-Jamaican fusions, likely due to the language barrier, though there's a comparatively good amount of French reggae/dancehall/ragga. If I remember my history correctly, reggaeton originated from Panama and was quickly imported to Puerto Rico, being characterized by the dem bow riddim. Other than some structural similarities, e.g. the use of riddims and hip-hop music techniques (which originated from Jamaicans in NYC), I don't really see any connections between the two genres. Nikki (talk) 19:18, 24 December 2011 (UTC) WikiProject cleanup listing I have created together with Smallman12q a toolserver tool that shows a weekly-updated list of cleanup categories for WikiProjects, that can be used as a replacement for WolterBot and this WikiProject is among those that are already included (because it is a member of Category:WolterBot cleanup listing subscriptions). Is this an outdated listing?--Chimino (talk) 12:00, 23 January 2011 (UTC) Jamaican Music I'd suggest changing the WikiProject title to "Jamaican Music" (under Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council/Directory/Culture/Music#National_and_regional) as opposed to "Reggae." Your description already covers genres outside of traditional "reggae" definitions, e.g. ska and dancehall, and the new title would be more definitive in scope, i.e. being more inclusive towards other genres such as mento and raggamuffin, and also delineating towards other non-Jamaican genres such as reggaeton. Fusion genres such as seggae, raggacore, & bhangramuffin could arguably be included as being produced by the Jamaican diaspora and often still distinctively Jamaican in character, though hip hop and reggaeton are likely a bit far off on that line. It is very difficult to draw back information due to the group being together for a relatively short time. Current information is from a combination of sources including Pauline Catlin's own bio, Kofi's own memories and random 'Google' searches none of which fit with Wiki's requirements.
