Shafqat Mahmood is a Pakistani column writer, politician and a retired civil servant. He joined Civil Service of Pakistan in 1978 and served for about seventeen years. In 1990 he joined Pakistan Peoples Party and became a politician. He was elected as Senator in 1994 for a period of six years. He also served as Federal Minister in caretaker government of Prime Minister Malik Meraj Khalid.[1] He joined Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on 13 December 2011.[2]
