Carrickfergus railway station serves the centre of Carrickfergus in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. In addition to this, Clipperstown serves the west of the town, and Downshire the east.
The station opened on 1 October 1862.[1]
Service
On Mondays to Fridays, there is a half-hourly service from Belfast Central. These trains alternate every half an hour between terminating here at Carrickfergus, and continuing on to Larne Harbour. There are extra trains to Whitehead at peak times. In the other direction, there is a half-hourly service to Belfast Central, with the trains alternating between being through services from Larne, or starting at Carrickfergus. Some early morning services run through to Great Victoria Street.
On Saturdays, the service still runs half-hourly in the same alternating manner, except all Belfast-bound trains terminate at Great Victoria Street rather than Belfast Central.
On Sundays, the service runs every hour and a half in either direction. All trains on Sundays run between Great Victoria Street and Larne Harbour.
