Eom Sang Hyeon (Template:Lang-ko, Chinese: 嚴祥鉉; born December 29, 1971) is a South Korean voice actor.[1] He began his career by joining Educational Broadcasting System's voice acting division in 1998.[2] In 1997, Sang Hyeon once was on stage, performing the parts of a Japanese assassinator and a liege in a South Korean musical The Last Empress.[3] He also appeared in a 1992 South Korean independent film Opening the Closed School Gates.[4] After his exclusive work at EBS, Sang Hyeon has been a freelancer since 2001. Although he was born in 1971, he looks younger than his age, and that is why many fans of Sang Hyeon tend to call him 상현소년 (Sang-Hyeon-So-Nyeon) meaning "The Boy Named Sang Hyeon", or its shortened form, 상현손 (Sang-Hyeon-Son).[5] The voice actor won the 2012 Nickelodeon Korea Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie. He won the category for his dubbing Po in Kung Fu Panda 2, gaining 3,121 votes (38%).[6] Sang Hyeon has become known for his voicing Calcifer on the Korean dub of a Studio Ghibli animation Howl's Moving Castle, L. Lawliet on the Korean dub of a Japanese television animation series Death Note, and more recently Po on the Korean dub of a DreamWorks Animation Kung Fu Panda.
