This page needs editing: Sir George Macartney (the consul) did not marry a chinese lady. See "The Silk Road: Two Thousand Years in the Heart of China" + Also the wikipedia for the 18th century Lord George Macartney says that his estate and title went to his niece's son and implied he had no children of his own. Thus Sir G. Maccartney (consul) could not have been a Lord Macartney's grandson. moved above comment by 66.245.218.106 from article to talkDlohcierekim 11:30, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
It's absurd to say Macartney (sic) "founded" Kashgar. The city existed for thousands of years before he got there. Also his name is probably wrong. More likely to be McCartney or MacCartney.
- The name was mispelled, per searching the books on Worldcat they have now been corrected. I also moved the article.--Alfredie (talk) 03:02, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- He was half-Chinese.
